great mouse
i purchased several other wireless mice .. but was unhappy will all (so were my friends) .. batteries were a problem with some. they were always dead when you needed it. some the range was not good and interference sometimes made it not work, some the buttons were far to easy to accidentally hit. i always had to have a second wired mouse on hand. now a friend highly recommended the Logitech M505 and M510. since he is a very reliable source a bunch of us took a chance and ordered M505 and a some M510.we sure were not disappointed. this thing is a pleasure to use .. it makes you feel good every time you fire up the laptop or main computer. no wires, no interference, batteries last almost forever, the friction when you try to move the mouse is very low. that's really nice for photoshop and such, you can move very precisely. the force required to click buttons it perfect. no accidental hits and no finger fatigue for long use.the mouse worked right out of the box for windows and Linux .. but with windows you have to download free software to enable the special features like left right scroll (tilt wheel) and center button and other buttons program-ability in the M510. not a problem since most people don't even know how nice those extra features are, they wont miss them. but the software is worth while and easy to install.most mice have a large dongle you have to plug into a USB port (the receiver). but this one has such a tiny device that it doesn't stick out. it doesn't interfere with mobility of the laptop and it will support up to 6 devices at the same time. so you can add wireless keyboard and other things in the future if you want to. and the range is incredible. you can run the computer from across the room.to say the least we are all very happy. in fact we are thinking that probably all logitech products are really good. i make far fewer mistakes on their keyboard than on any of the 10 other ones i have. the mouse is a pleasure to use. even my other half loves it and she doesn't like anything usually.its such a pleasure to see quality products still being made today. i do a lot of graphic and photo type work so i use this stuff a lot. neither i nor my friends have any linkage with logitech other than now a common love ...

Perfectly sized wireless mouse
This Logitech M505 is the perfectly sized wireless mouse that I have used so far. Its just about right size - neither too big, nor too tiny.It was ready to use as it arrived with a pair of batteries. Yes, it needs 2 batteries, which does add a fair bit of weight to it. But, the 2 batteries actually add stability to the mouse, making the movement very smooth and obvious. The installation was a matter of 20 seconds. I simply plugged in the nano-receiver to one of the USB ports of my laptop (Win 7), and by the time I put batteries in the mouse and switched it on, it was ready to rock and scroll :)The mouse is quite sturdy; but I must admit that the battery cover felt a bit plasticky when it was removed for placing the battery. But once its put back on, it feels quite secure and sturdy. The design is good and comforting, at least to my medium sized palm. The clicks as well as the scroll are easy and obvious. I like the ability to left/right scroll as well. Also, unlike other mice, this one does not emit the red led/laser (or whatever that red light is called). The laser beam is invisible, atleast to my eye :) . The mouse can be switched off when not being used. Of course, it goes to sleep after a minute or so of no usage. This is to improve the battery life. I can't comment on battery life, since it's not even a week I am using this one. Will update the review once the batteries die up. I am hoping they last me a year (although the package mentions it to last for 2 years). The design and ergonomics are good as well. Mine is a glossy red with matt black sides and a white curve along the black sides. I guess the full black would look even more better, but it costs 5 bucks more. Didn't want to spend an additional 5 bucks just for the color.I have used the mouse on wooden surface, on my bed, couch and even on my belly. It works like charm. I haven't tried on glass though.I would definitely recommend Logitech M505 for your wireless mouse requirements.

Great Mouse!
This is an awesome product! The Logitech m505 mouse is excellent on battery life and cheap! According to the statistics listed in the product description, this particular model can get up to about 15 months of battery life out of just two AA batteries. It is very comfortable and the curvature makes me think it can easily be adjusted to fit either hand. It has a multi-directional scroll wheel/button in the center. (By multi-directional I mean it scrolls up and down and can be pushed in or left and right for multiple functions.)Also, you can now use just one tiny little USB receiver for all of your logitech devices (this receiver can be very convenitently stored inside of the battery compartment where they made an indent for you to push it in.) It is very sturdy and comes in a variety of colors. In many other brands of wireless optical mice, they stay on all the time and go into a kind of hibernation after a few minutes of inactivity. With the Logitech m505, you have the option of turning it off using a switch conveniently located on the bottom of the mouse (allowing most people to use the same batteries for even more than that of the estimate provided by the manufacturer.) The mouse comes packaged with the manuals, one of their tiny little USB receivers, and two AA batteries. One final detail to finish my rant about the Logitech m505 is that it is in fact an optical mouse but it does not have the red light that many others do, so there is no chance of damaging your eyes, which makes it great for kids. All things considered, I'd recommend this for just about anybody looking for a wireless mouse because it gives you a great bang for your buck!
