Hunter Wand WiFi Module for X2 Sprinkler Controller, Hydrawise App Control

As advertised and quick. One note that is in the fine print is that it only works on a 2.4G network and will not work on a 5G network so plan ahead.

setup was ok, got it working. Worked one day then dropped per comms error. The router is maybe 10ft away. Rebooted, connected. then dropped. What's worse is that even though it was programmed via the app, because it lost comms the programming doesn't work. I don't recommend buy this.

I'll admit, getting the Hunter WAND connected took more effort than I expected, but now that it's up and running, I absolutely love it. The biggest hurdle turned out to be my router settings, not the WAND itself. In my case, I had to separate my 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi networks and give each one its own unique password. I also had to change my 2.4 GHz network to 802.11 b/g/n mode before the WAND would connect and stay connected. One thing that would have saved me a lot of frustration is knowing there's a specific installation sequence. Don't install the WAND first and then start the setup. Begin the setup in the app, insert the WAND when prompted, and then complete the setup. Following that order made all the difference. Once everything was configured correctly, it has been flawless. The best part is that I don't have to constantly adjust my watering schedule. I set it up once, and the system has features that does the rest. When the weather is hotter, it automatically adjusts the watering time. If it has rained enough, it skips the scheduled watering and even lets me know that it was skipped because of the rainfall. That's a feature I didn't realize I'd appreciate so much until I started using it. I can control my sprinkler system from anywhere, make schedule changes in seconds, and I haven't lost connection once since getting everything set up properly. If you're struggling with the initial setup, don't assume the WAND is the problem. Check your router settings and follow the installation sequence carefully. Once everything is configured correctly, this is an outstanding product that makes managing an irrigation system almost effortless. The only disappointment was customer service. I called twice, and unfortunately neither representative was able to solve the problem. After about four days of researching, troubleshooting, and trying different solutions, I finally figured it out myself. I wish the support team had been more familiar with the setup process because it would have saved me a lot of time and frustration. That said, now that everything is working, I'm extremely happy with the product and would absolutely buy it again.

absolutely love the wifi-enabled irrigation module/app. connected, installed, tested & works wonderfully well. even has home weather sync so system knows when to water more or less dependent on sunny/rainy days. can activate within a touch of button on the app & so much more. install was a breeze & connected to home wifi instantly--and no monthly subscription required.

All set, works After reading materials and visiting the website I downloaded the APP and used the setup wizard. Used the Bluetooth connection to setup. After trying to download the existing program that took way too long I started over and chose not to download and created a new program. Once connected the app is really easy to use. Getting connected can be a challenge, I think I restarted the process 2 or 3 times. Setup process is not idiot proof, you need to pay attention to details. I like the weather monitoring idea, hope it works.

This WiFi module is a piece of junk. I spent several hours trying to get it installed and connected to no avail. I’ve been an IT Professional for 40 yrs. This should have taken me 5 minute. I connected via Bluetooth, set all the WiFi parameters (on my 2.4Ghz guest network), entered valid SSID credentials and the process hung there. I reset the WAND module to Factory Defaults and it finally connected. Then on the very next watering cycle, it disconnected. It does this everyday to the point of having the Hydrawise app is negated. I worked with Hunter Tech Support and they walked me through the exact steps I’d ne doing all along. On the 3rd attempt, it connected. But that was a fleeting ray of hope as it went offline the next morning. Online commentary seems to indicate that at least half of these modules are returned. That’s either poor engineering or poor QC. I’m not about to replace the controller which some others have done. I’ll live with manual programming for now. The next one will be a Rainbird.

This product does not work; I can’t connect it to the system or the app. I’ve called customer service, and they were unable to help me. Frustrated, I decided to check the online forums for any potential solutions. Many users reported similar issues, suggesting that a software update might be necessary. I followed their advice and attempted the update, but it still failed to function properly. Now, I'm left wondering if I should return the product or continue troubleshooting on my own.

I didn’t have any issues connecting the wand to Wi-Fi initially using the SAP method, but during the first 12 hours, it would disconnect every 1.5 to 2 hours. To get it back online, I had to unplug and reinstall the wand—defeating the purpose of remote access through the app. The Wi-Fi signal in my garage measured -43 dBm, so signal strength didn’t seem to be the problem. The next day, I accessed my AT&T router’s admin settings and made the following changes based on recommendations from Hunter’s website: Changed the 2.4 GHz band mode from B/G to B/G/N Set the 2.4 GHz channel from Auto to Channel 6 Assigned the wand a fixed IP address (not sure this helped, but I did it anyway) Both my 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands use the same SSID, and I did not rename the 2.4 GHz band. The wand correctly connected to the 2.4 GHz band, and it appears band steering worked properly. Since making those changes, the wand has stayed connected without any drops, and the Hydrawise app has worked as expected. It’s user-friendly for setting up programs, manual watering, and adjusting settings quickly. I haven’t yet tested the smart features like weather integration. It’s only been a week, but so far so good after changes. I’ll update this review if anything changes.

I like this product. It saves water and can easily control irrigation from my mobile.

Can be installed and setup very quick and the use is very easy with the application.

Es una maravilla, es muy fácil de organizar y establecer los tipos de riego. Lo recomiendo porque desde cualquier lugar en que estoy puedo activar o desactivar el sistema de riego.

No me gustó porque es difícil de configurar para principiantes, aun no puedo configurarlo pero sigo intentando.
