I have been using VO5 for many years, and really like it. I generally buy several tubes at a time from Amazon. I have noted over the last several years that some of the tubes have a really heavy consistency, and some less heavy. I don't know if this relates to quality control or age of the product. Be that as it may, both consistencies work well. The key is to only use a small amount. I am male with relatively short hair, and only squeeze about half an inch from the tube, rub between hands then apply to hair. Too much might leave a greasy appearance. I guess you could consider it to be a pomade. In fact it used to come in a 5 oz jar, like some of the pomades, but now only seems to come in tubes.
