This is an amazing carrier for my Syrian hamster. In the beginning, I didn't know which size to buy, so I bought. Turned out that the small is wayyyy too small. Physically, a large Syrian hamster can fit inside but it is definitely overwhelming for them. So I would definitely recommend the large one. And it's only a few dollars more expensive for a much larger case. If you're concern about it being too big, don't worry. It is perfect. The size small should've been labeled as mini, and the large should be a small. Even though it's a bit hard to assemble but it's a great buy

We purchased this to transport our 2 year old Cockatiel to the vet to have his nails and wings clipped. I was worried this might be too small but he actually fit with plenty of room to walk around. We placed a washcloth on the bottom to give him a little comfort while inside.Our bird enjoyed the ride to the vet. He loved being able to see out of this carrier. Unfortunately he might be forever traumatized since the vet accidentally cut off the end of one of his toes as she was clipping his wing. Apparently he plopped his foot up just as she was cutting. I wont be using that vet EVER again - but I am certain we will continue using this awesome travel carrier for our bird.Would highly recommend this carrier.

I wanted to give just a 4 star review because it's a great and sturdy product, but I just wish that the photos had given a clearer picture of size when compared to the animal species' it's marketed toward keeping. But since perhaps I missed something vital in the description, I'm going with the 5 stars since I shouldn't knock a star for my oversight.I own Syrian hamsters and ordered this to serve as a travel cage when transporting an individual from place to place. However, this particular size isn't large enough for Syrian hamsters, unless they are pups. Photos below are of my Willow, who weighs in at about 200 grams (so, on the larger end of Syrian hamster sizes) and you can see how little room she has in this carrier. It might work only if one was going to keep the hamster in it for a very short period of time. That said, I wish instead of using the word "hamster" in the description, that they would specify which species of hamsters as this would be great for any of the dwarf or Chinese species, but not so much for the Syrian hamsters. I don't even know what they mean by it's good for "small rats" as only young rat pups would comfortably fit in this size carrier without bending the dickens out of their tails.Luckily, Living World DOES make a larger carrier in this style (the maroon one), so I'll just order that and donate this to someone with dwarf hamsters or mice.

I got the large carrier for my hedgehog to go to the vet or on other short trips. She’s still fairly small, but she’ll have plenty of room when she’s fully grown. There’s room left for a snuggle/sleep sack.The carrier was very easy to snap together. I felt like I received the quality I expected for the price I paid. Though they feel somewhat sturdy, I will still be holding the bottom of the carrier when I use the handles.I took 1 star away because the hinges for the lid are extremely fragile and when opening & closing, it’s wobbly and feels like it’s going to break at any time.

I need to take my conure in to get his claws trimmed and needed a way to get him there safely. I wasn't thrilled with the bird-specific carriers that were available - especially because so many of them are extremely pricey. This is the perfect size and should do the trick. I put some blankets in it and have been letting him play in it with the lid up so that he gets more comfortable with it and so far, so good.It is definitely the right size for a guinea pig or small rabbit and probably better suited to those critters. I think that a guinea pig would fit comfortably. It is not recommended/made for birds, but should be fine for a trip to the vet and back. A major drawback to using this carrier for a bird is that it is plastic and larger birds EASILY chew through plastic. The slotted plastic that surrounds the top half is incredibly appealing to him and he has already made a beak mark there, so I will probably need to reinforce the inside with metal mesh or something so that he doesn't chew his way out. BUT, I love the size and construction of this carrier so much that I am willing to do a little extra to make it more chew-proof. If I DO get handy and add mesh, I will post a photo.I am very happy with this purchase. The size is great. The price is great. The construction seems durable and should last for years (as long as I keep him from chewing the plastic). I was pleasantly surprised when I received it and put it together. For just over $14, I got a solid little carrier.
