Champ and Me by the Maple Tree: A Vermont Tale (Shankman & O'Neill)

My 6 month old & I are avid readers of Shankman & O’Neill! I love the stories & he loves the bright, colorful illustrations. We highly recommend their entire catalogue, but especially enjoy “Champ & Me by the Maple Tree”.

This book has sat in my Amazon wishlist forever. I keep thinking I will place the order next holiday or birthday... but today I decided I had waited long enough, and this purchase was something I REALLY wanted to do for my niece and nephew so that they can learn about their cultural heritage. Even though they live in Oregon, they can read about Champ the Lake Champlain lochness monster. The book is also properly themed with maple, which is of major cultural significance to Vermonters and their ancestors.

For kids who live around Lake Champlain or plan to visit, it is very difficult to find books about Champ for children and my friend heard I had been searching the local shops and found this on Amazon. I was delighted! A unique gift!

Charming story and illustrations, in this time of Covid when we can’t travel much it’s great to find books that let us travel mentally to other locales. We’ll locate Vermont on a map of states puzzle.

Another perfect story by Shankman & ONeil. My 7 year old daughters favorite of their stories! We read it at least once a week and it leaves us happy and smiling before bedtime. We bring it with us too when we visit the Lake and she brings her notebooks and pretends she's the girl in the story. I recommend to everyone of all ages!

This became an instant classic in our home. The story is adorable and the pictures are vibrant! My little one LOVES this book.We have even given it as a present to our friends ' children as well.

We live in Vermont and this book does a wonderful job of describing the best of what the state has to offer.Our grandchildren love it and we enjoy being able to point to places and things in the book that we have taken them to see.
