**Q: What is this thing--centering pad?  There is absolutely no description of what it is or does on Amazon.**
A: Centers and stabilizes the pitcher/container, so that the spindle inserts correctly in the base of the container.

**Q: Anyone know if this fits vm e-320 or vm0197?**
A: I don't know for sure

**Q: How is it exchanged on the base? Does the old one just lift off and the new one pushed on? How does the ring in the middle come off?**
A: Yes the old ones comes off and the new ones goes on. You don't have to do anything with the centerpiece unless you are replacing the bearings.

**Q: Does this fit the vitamix 6300?**
A: I am not sure. My apologies

I was devasted when I found that mice had eaten the original pad from my Ventura Vitamix while it was in storage. Amazon to the rescue. It was a tight fit but it works beautifully as a replacement!
