Are these tough enough to hold wet life jackets to dry?

I believe so. I’ve used them for heavy oilskin jackets and leather dusters, so wet life jackets should be okay.

I would say yes they are plastic and they are very wide so they will not leave any hanger impressions in the sweater like smaller narrow hangers do
