I've used Arkansas stones since I was a kid, so I'm prejudiced. But these are really good, especially for smaller blades

I received the three Arkansas stones in very good condition. The soft stone is extremely soft when I sharpened tools on it, it got divots in it, and it almost feels like sandstone. The medium stone is a little harder again did not feel like it was a medium stone. The black stone was a little harder still, but not as hard as my hard Arkansas stone that I already have. I would say the actual grading of these stones should be extra soft, soft and medium.

These stones appear to be top notch - packaged very nicely, mounted on wooden blocks, and very useful as far as sharpening my knives. The only drawback is support. I tried calling the number provided on the calling card with the shipment, and only got an answering service. Four times! I finally gave up. Totally unresponsive, sad to say, Hence, the four star rating.
