Yes, it's an N scale model, 1:160 smaller than the original size (as opposed to 1:30 smaller or something similar usually used for kids). Yes, surely these are too small for kids! they are not meant for kids! As for the layout, they look nice. Nothing fancy (no attached fine details) - just good quality plastic vans with small wheels on axis and good printing on the sides. No lighting. Will look pretty good on an N scale layout. On the photo, the top shelf has the two items included in this package next to an N scale train car.
