I’m in Houston. If you’re not familiar with DampRid, it is kind of like the poor man’s dehumidifier. We used to always answer issues of mildew/mold in the residence halls with, “Let’s just DampRid in there.”* I use Damp Rid a fair bit and had previously been buying the refill bags for all the cups I have.Things to know:1) This is more of a refill system, not stand alone. I would get a smaller Damp Rid, use it, save the container, and then refill it with this jug. It’s a jug, it’s huge, and it’s magical. You’re not going to use the jug as the means of collecting moisture.2) This is a lot better than the old system where the refill came in a plastic bag. I always would rip open the top wrong and was unable to re-seal it. This has a simple screw top lid.3) This appears to have more than the old refill bag that you would get. However, I filled up 5 cups the other day and still have a lot left over. I can honestly dump my Damp Rid buckets daily, but I don’t, and they keep for absorbing for about a week (again, high humidity area).4) The only recommendation I have is that the mouth of the container is large, which is nice, but it is actually larger than the older DampRid single shot containers. So, be mindful when you pour out the product that you don’t want to spill the dry particles anywhere.Things I use DampRid for:-Over the summer in my classroom, I put it in the cupboard, where I have some books and papers. Every year it keeps the cupboard/closet nice and dry. However, I’m careful and I know that if it tips over, the water isn’t really water, but more of a thick gel like substance that can ruin what it touches.-I put a container in my refrigerator whenever it is time to defrost it. Think of it as a bit of the old news paper in a fridge to dry up moisture trick. Except this time I don’t get ink all over everything and it lasts all summer to keep the fridge smell free when I turn it back on.-A random use is that I use DampRid to dry emulsion from screens quickly. You may have no idea what I’m talking about, which is cool, but if you’re someone who does screen-printing, a closet full of DampRid can serve you just as well as if you had a dehumidifier.*I just want to acknowledge that this not a way to kill mold, but it can be something preventative to suppress the growth of new mold in damp areas. It was also a running joke between us because our facilitates crew would never fix anything, so we had to give out DampRid tubs non-stop to at least slow down the mildew growth in students rooms.

Use these every year when we store out boat. Prevents mildew.

I have 3 of these in 3 rooms, I thought it would be costly refilling them as needed but found this bigass refill on here, makes refilling them extremely cheap, well worth it in Queensland were it's way too humid at times.

I live in Florida and use Damp Rid in my RV all the time. It keeps the musty smell away and takes care of moisture build up. My RV is not being used right now and just sits in storage. I also use this product in my house. Buying it in the jug makes less waste to dispose of also. Great product!!

Bought because crazy long rain period we're having has caused damp issues. This was pricier than normal, but australia seems to have run out, so price not an issue. Will refill 10 of my refillable tubs, so still an economical choice. Five stars
