Not reliable

If there is anything good for C++ it is for making any software lie. It is perfect for lying and does a wonderful job by convincing you that (a) there is something wrong with software - or in the case of this hub firmware - or (b) there is something wrong with you.In cases like this hub the faults are clear to notice, for example it simply will not work. It knows the date and time, it knows when to automatically disable itself down to what are known as event hooks. Nerd hackers in big corporations must get a craving when they embed code that responds to events, they must believe that they are 'the enemy' of the free world simply because this kind of manipulation has never happened before. There are a few other items that I have bought from here that are also infected with event hooks, that is code that tells the device to automatically stop working for exampleKeyboards are the funniest, C++ excels there. I am a fluent typist at roughly 56 wpm. Firmware doesn't really get far with my when I'm typing, nevertheless the way the responses from key press to the screen show a typical random mega-sporadic behavior. A word of warning here nerds - beghad.Computer performance compared to the nineties considering clock speed alone as well as multiple clocks indicate very simple tasks such as text entry should be very straight forward but it ain't.It is not as if the operating system has to monitor the keyboard. The keyboard tells the OS when a key is pressed via the keyboards own dedicated hardware interrupt. The thing I try to stress here, is all of a sudden, out of the blue everything suddenly is working again.Do not buy this hub unless you intend to use it for charging. But even then X10 can allow manipulative control with the charging process.Only use the type of USB cables that only allow charging. It is the two signal wires that allow nosey little pip-squeaks to interfere with your computer as well as other stuff like shower, toasters, lights coming on.The list is endless, control over the mains is well known. Companies that make computer products have the option whether to support X10 or not.So the bottom line is to make sure that the hub you buy does not support X10.Andrue

NBG - keeps saying flashdrives are unformatted & asking if I want to format them!

Received today and checked out carefully before I planned to install it in a difficult-to-reach location.Unfortunately it exhibits the same totally unacceptable symptom as some other reviewers have mentioned: every time a flash drive is inserted, and often when first powered up, I get an on-screen messages on the PC that every flashdrive plugged in is unformatted (even when they are already formatted and have data on them) and asking if I want to format each one! Also, the micro-USB 3.0 connection in the rear of the unit is very intermittent - again NBG, especially for where I need to locate it!I have immediately started the Returns process on the basis that the product is faulty - and now buying a Startech unit where no such problems have been reported!PS: this one came with a 12V/2A UK mains adapter, and it did not make any obvious whining.

Great Product, Well Made.

TP-LINK are a well-known company, so when I was looking for a hub, I made the decision to go with a company I had heard off, as there are so many different brands on the Amazon site, it was just a toss-up of who was going to be best. This appears to be a very well-produced product, from the box it arrived in to the hub inside, feel this was made to a great standard. Small slime design, and well thought out as to where everything will fit. length of leads are just about right, and allowed some leeway as to where you could position the hub. little blue lights which come on when drives are working, and an on-off button to switch the hub off when not required. One thing to remember though. Yon must plug this product directly into the PC, as if you use an USB extension lead the USB3 Hard Drives attached will not work at full speed. Not quite sure why this is the case, as my USB3 DVD recording drive has no problem using the same ext lead. So just be aware. I have had the hub for about 3 weeks now, so far very happy. I will update this review, if this changes over time.

Seems to disconnect unexpectedly

This has not worked well for me, although I've not returned as I didn't see the problems until after Amazon's ridiculously short "returns" period. It's fine on basic devices, but I would not trust it with disks again. If I connect a disk directly to my Mac I never have a problem, but via this hub I've had two disks get corrupted at different times and messages about disk disconnection without ejection. So I think it must be under powered. I reformatted the disks and they were usable again, and it was not a big loss because they are backup disks and luckily did not need to get used at the time of corruption. So it is probably OK if you just want to charge stuff or occasionally plug in a disk short term, but not OK for permanently connected backup disks.

Great quality (so far)

Great quality (so far), impressive looks and great performance. Bought a second one for upstairs. These can handle pretty much anything you throw at them. Just in case anyone was wondering, the three high power charging ports DO carry data too.
