Q: How deep are the drawers?

The 2 lower drawers are 1-1/8" deep each. The top drawer is 1-1/2" deep but the lid is also taller so you can actually fit around 2-1/2" of stuff. I love this box! It fits all my brushes and tube paints nicely. I don't use the canvas holder to paint with as it's backwards so you'd have to reach around to get anything out of the drawers but it could be modified fairly easy to turn it around if you're handy like that.

Q: can i turn the top the other way if I cut a notch on the other side so the ease faces the drawers

Yes .. you can. I removed the small block at the top .. made a new one and glued it in place.Also on the easel side I moved the bottom bracket up and drilled two new holes closer to the top so I can clamp the 8x10 canvas panels. It all came out great. Just take your time in making the adjustments so not to make a mess out of a wonderful art box.

Q: What are the best markers and colored pencils for adult coloring books?

Sorry Jenny, not really sure, this set has a lot more in it than pencils, I think it just depends on your preference. This is a really nice set for the price.

Q: Could i set my sketch board on this?

Yes and the base is stable. you may not be able to lock it on tho depending on the size of the sketch board.
