It's attractive
I bought this because I also have the shoulder bag that has the same fabric. The bag fits my canon r5 plus attached 100-500mm lens. I can also carry a flash, teleconverter, 24-70mm lens, and 100 macro lens. As well as other small items. So the bag fits everything I expected. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the way it opens. First, the front and sides have hooks. They are quite awkward to open & close. I am unable to do so quickly. And time means shots. The back of the bag is the access compartment for all the lenses & camera. I'm not a huge fan of that either because the arm straps are always in the way. But I do understand that we can't have all we desire in one bag.It looks sharp and not too bulky for a small frame female. And I love that it matches my shoulder camera bag!

Top cover is very troublesome to open
I own and very much like the shoulder bag, the Retrospective 7 V2.0, from the same series. It uses Velcro to secure the cover. This bag, the Retrospective Backpack 15L, uses hooks that are very troublesome to hook and unhook. I've had two occasions when the camera fell out when swinging the bag over my shoulder. Of course I should always take the time to redo the hooks, but don't always do so because it is soo troublesome and time consuming to do so, especially when I expect to be taking another shot. With the shoulder bag, Velcro is used to secures the cover and does so with zero effort. It even allows adjusting the amount of Velcro to fine tune accessibility. The Backpack 15, not only requires two hands to do and undo the hooks, it also requires laying the bag on its back, to allow accessing the hooks. i.e. it's impossible to do just by feel as the hooks are hidden under the cover, and can only be seen by looking up under the cover. The attention to the design detail in the shoulder bag, is sorely missing in this Think Tank backpack.

Excellent rear-access daypack.
I read a lot of reviews before I purchased this product and feel some of them misrepresent it a bit. This is a rear-access adventure daypack with clever expansion functions that the marketing seems to all but gloss over. Top access is OK for camera gear, but perfect for anything non camera-related you may want to bring with you on a day trip (thermal layers, snacks, sunglasses, first aid, etc...). It also acts as an expansion are; you can carry something between the flap and top-access zipper (rolled up jacket, a sandwich, glasses case or something like that).I think folks need to look at this as a mini rucksack that passively resembles a stylish city day bag, and not a stylish city day bag that is styled after a rucksack. Its a rucksack! Some dont like the latches for the top flap and suggest velcro, but the latche/flap work. Velcro would render it useless as an expansion... not very, err, rucksack-like. Also, the latches are more secure for anybody that cares about security in crowded places.Pros:-It STANDS!-Rugged materials and good build quality-Clever expansion functions-Comfortable-Relatively secure from pickpockets (could be completely locked with.... you guessed it, a lock).-You can strap things to it-Lay it down and you have a mini picnic tableCons:-Laptop pocket could be ever so slightly larger. It will fit a current 15" laptop, but probably nothing with a full keyboard.-That's it... no other cons. It's a great bag IF what you are looking for is a 15L mini-rucksack that will stand up without flopping over and not get the attention of every pickpocket in Penn Station. If you want a stylish top access bag with a flap on the front, don't get this bag, go look for a nice city bag with some gold buckles on it.If they made a 25L version, I would throw money at them.

Absolutely PERFECT for long lens
This is exactly what I was looking for. Holds my Nikon D7500 with Sigma 150-600c which can directly pull out the top which is what I wanted. Also holds easily 3 other lenses and flash in the main area. Plus, believe it or not I can get the D3100 with a lens on it in the top. Then there is still space in the side pockets and laptop/tablet area. I am enjoying this more than any bag I have ever owned.
