Park tool VP-1 patch kits, order of 2 Review: Expensive but complete and high quality - Park Tool is a mainstay in the bike repair world and this is no exception. I hear horror stories of bad patches and terrible vulcanizing compound from other brands. In my experience these are the most reliable patches and the compound never dries up in the sealed tube. I think they should include more patches but the quality is what you pay for when you get a flat miles from home in the rain. 1. Find the puncture and spread compound evenly in an area larger than the patch. Wait for the compound to dry out a bit before applying the patch. 2. Remove the plastic protective film and firmly press patch (With black dot facing you) into the compound you just applied. 3. Continue to push the patch into the tube for a few minutes. 4. Put a slight amount of air in the tube and remount in the tire. 5. Carefully remount the tire to the rim without allowing the tube to get pinched between the tire and rim. 6. Fill tire after mounting the wheel to the bike and continue the trip. Instruction given to me by a bike mechanic in Astoria, Oregon with decades of experience in the craft. He uses these same patches by Park Tool. Review: Will do the job. - Worked well for Bianchi bike tires. Bought another set.

Perfect airtight seal!
These work great. I used one of the smaller patched on a nail hole in a scooter tire. The patch has been holding strong and stretched well with the inflated tire. I should mention that the first patch I attempted I applied the patch too early and didn't wait for the glue to fully dry. So the patch peeled off pretty easily. So I applied more glue and let it fully dry and then applied another patch and it bonded solid. So the people saying these don't stick well are probably being impatient like I was and not letting the glue dry fully.

Works Great, Quality product
Used to patch my bike tube. Easy to use, application was fast, great adhesion. Couldn't ask for more. Will buy again.

I think this product uses the most reliable repair method.
I had a flat tire on a trail in Missouri, and luckily someone else had a dry patch to repair the tire to get us on our way. To my surprise, the tire was flat a few days later. After reading reviews on this product with the included tube of special glue, I repaired the leak, and the tire has not lost air days later. I recommend this product. Sometimes the more traditional way of repairing things works best!

Must buy VP-1 kit to replace opened glue. So $5 per flat to make sure glue is fresh.
I have used these kits for years and they are very good for repairs I have done. (Sandpaper should be replaced with metal scraper.) That said, I have had opened glue harden on me over time, and several patches left with bad glue! Park doesn't offer glue only for sale that I am aware of. In the end to be reliable over time when glue has been opened, these are in effect "one repair" kits at $5 a pop as you can't buy tubes of glue for back up. Do you think, there might be a marketing strategy here? Park should offer packs of several tubes for back up.

Compact, easy to use.
Pros: Inexpensive insurance for rides Compact Easy to use Cons: If you don't watch a youtube video to see how to do it, you may apply it incorrectly Bought this as it was pretty inexpensive for two small kits. The instructions included are adequate but I could see someone misunderstanding and applying the patch incorrectly if you only go by the instructions; definitely watch a video before you have to use one. So far I have used one for my bike and it has held up great, it was easy to apply and stuck down firmly to the tube. I saw that some people complained the patch wouldn't stick to the tire, I had this issue as well then I realized I was trying to adhere the plastic backing side to the tube, not the side with the patch. It is somewhat hard to tell which side the patch is on because it is so flat, the black dot should face you, not the orange side.

Amazing product
Great product for emergency bike repairs. It has 6 patches and even a strip of sandpaper . This product listing actually has 2 units and for the price this is a great deal.
