They kept my frozen food frozen during a cross-country road trip using only a mid-priced cooler ($65–$75), which really impressed me. I also used one on a trail ride, and when we stopped for lunch, the water bottles—started at room temperature—had actually begun to freeze. That says a lot about how cold and consistent these packs stay. They’re made from high-quality plastic that’s durable and easy to clean when not frozen. The integrated handle is a great touch and makes them easy to move and position in a cooler. One tip: if you store these at room temperature, be sure to put them in the freezer a few days in advance and set your freezer colder than usual. These packs are dense and take some time to fully freeze—but once they do, they perform extremely well. They’ve worked perfectly for my needs. I currently own three XL (5 lb) packs and four L (2.5 lb) packs and will continue to buy more as needed. It’s really nice not having to stop for ice every day.
