Do I need batteries to use camera?

No, there are no batteries needed. You turn to a new frame by hand after each picture taken. It will stop by itself when a new picture frame is reached. Be careful not to force it past the new picture frame. Use the window on top that shows the picture number. Read and follow the Directions. My photos came out well, after 2 duds in the beginning, when I was learning how the shutter button “felt”.

You do not need a memory card because this is a film camera. I just took mine to CVS to develop the pictures.
