The Absolute BEST Rice Cooker
I do not understand the few not so good reviews, as this is an absolutely PERFECT rice cooker! The rice comes out just right. And the steamer tray, works just as well. The only thing, I recommend just making one cup (actually 3/4 cup of dry rice) - to leave plenty of room to build up the steam. So, in one little appliance you can make rice as well as veggies for your dinner! Also, the stainless steel inner pot is great. I don't have to worry about non-stick material flaking off. I find the stainless cleans up easily.

What a gem of an appliance for just a pittance!!
This little guy just arrived and I made my first two “rice cups”. I italicized it because I had no idea there was such a thing. WHAT a find!! I hate cooking rice on the stove. So I would make it in the microwave. But you have to use a very large covered dish, put it on a plate because invariably mine would boil over, cook on High, cook after at 50%, let it sit for X minutes. I mean that is a lot of hullabaloo for a little rice, don’t you think? This guy is toss in 1 to 3 “rice cups”, fill the water to the designated line on the stainless steel bowl, put the lid on and switch it to Cook. My rice was ready in 23 minutes. No fuss no muss. THIS is my kind of cooking!! I added 1 tsp of canola oil and I had next to no sticking. But really, it’s stainless steel, a little soak and it will wipe off. I also used the steamer basket as soon as it switched to warm and wilted some spinach for my rice bowl in 3 minutes. This is my new best friend. Next brown rice, wild rice, steel cut oats, steam eggs and I hear it will make dessert! Whoo! Get yourself one. This is a high-quality product, the stainless steel bowl is heavy as is the steamer. And a BONUS as of this writing, I just downloaded “Rice Cooker Cookbook for Absolute Idiots” for FREE!! I’ve had time to check it out and it is fabulous.

A Small Rice Cooker That Makes Very Good Rice
I'm finally upgrading my various cookers to cook with stainless steel inner pots instead of non-stick pots. Today I used this rice cooker for the very first time. When first opening the package, I immediately noticed a couple of things. First, the looks like a quality cooker. Second, the cooker is smaller than I'm used to. It is only a 1.2 quart cooker whereas I'm used to 3 quart. But actually, the small size is perfect for one person. For dinner, I made 1 cup (before cooked) of brown rice. I also used the included stainless steel steam basket to steam some sardines, smoked oysters and a tomato. For the rice, I added 1 cup rice, 1 1/2 cup water and about a tablespoon of olive oil to prevent the rice from sticking to each other. Overall, I am impressed with the results. I didn't time how long it took to cook the rice but I say about 30-40 minutes. Upon uncovering, the rice looked great. They didn't stick to each other. However, the very bottom did have rice that was overcooked and stuck to the inner pot bottom. The steamed food was fine in temperature and taste. As for cleaning, I think having stainless steel help. I do have to soak the rice that sticks to the pot overnight. By morning, I expect them to easily come off. The stain steel basket was easy to clean with just liquid soap and water even though it got a little oily with the sardines and smoked oysters. As I mentioned, the inner pot is small. With just 1 cup of brown rice, the rice almost filled the pot. I figure if I was cooking white rice, that might even rise more and fill the pot. I haven't tried with white rice. Here is what I like and dislike of this rice cooker: Likes: ------- - made of good material and seems durable - stainless steel safer and no worry about non-stick coating anymore - small size perfect for 1 person Dislikes: ---------- - rice did stick to bottom of pot even after I added some olive oil to rice (but should clean off easily after soaked) I give the Aroma Housewares 1.2 QT stainless steel rice cooker 5 stars.

Outstanding cooker
We've owned many rice cookers over 50 years, starting with a Toshiba in 1978. Of course, quality over the years has dropped, but this Aroma brings a pleasant change for the better. We wanted a simple cooker--just push the button. We don't want a cooker that talks to us or cooks umpteen various things--just rice, with a steamer feature on top. And we wanted to get away from aluminum and coated surfaces, understanding there would be more sticking with raw steel. The Aroma with stainless steel is perfect. What we didn't expect was its silent operation. No hissing, rattling or boiling sounds, just a quiet appliance that cooks the rice to our liking. We don't mind the toasting of some rice on the bottom due to the heavy steel. And it soaks off quite easily.

It does the job
We did not want nor need a high-end rice cooker with all the fancy bells and whistles. This fits the bill. We love that it is stainless steel and nontoxic. However, for the first few uses there is a chemical smell that off gasses from the motor. Also, the rice does stick, but we were prepared for this since it does not have any of the toxic coatings. We rub a little avocado oil on the bottom before adding the rice and do not let the rice sit on "warm" for more than 15 minutes and that seems to fix the issue. But if the rice does stick, just boil some water with a little white vinegar and it comes right up! No scrubbing needed. The rice cooker is smaller then expected. But it does cook 3 cups of rice - which is more than what we need. We like that it easily fits in the drawer with our pots and pans and is very light weight.

Burned/Scorched the Rice - Doesn't work as suggested
This cooker scorches/burns the rice. I followed the instructions exactly as they were written. I have had an older rice cooker for several years that I use regularly, and it never burns the rice. There is a picture that shows rice being cooked in the pot at the same time with vegetable and meat in the steamer. That is misleading to suggest that all these foods can be cooked at the same time. I should have known better. I thought that is must be possible because there was the picture. I looked everywhere for recipes to cook the rice in the pot and the vegetables and meat in the steamer basket all at the same time. They don't exist, because in reality, rice and vegetables and meat all require different cooking times. Another issue is there is no "On/Off" switch. When you plug it in, it immediately starts warming up - so you must be aware that this cooker is unlike other appliances which can be plugged in and don't start warming or cooking until the "On/Off" button is pushed. I am disappointed that Aroma would market this product knowing that it will burn the rice. Who wants a rice cooker that burns the rice? How do we take a chance on any other product if they can't even do quality control to determine if their product works and works safely? I am returning the cooker, and I note that there is language stating that customers might get a partial refund if the product is used. There is no way to know that it would burn the rice without using it. The cooker cleaned up very well so that it looks spotless, and hopefully, the seller will be reasonable and issue a full refund. Incidentally, my old rice cooker that never burns the rice is also an Aroma, so either the company's overall standards have slipped, or it was just this model that they failed to run adequate quality control testing on. I am going back to my old cooker...now I have no confidence to try a new one.

Great Product!
Great rice cooker! I don’t think it actually cooks 7 cups of rice, and the rice does stick to the bottom a little. However, it makes the fluffiest rice I’ve ever had, doesn’t boil over, cooks quickly, and is very easy to use and clean. Overall, it’s a great product for a great price, and I’m very happy with it.

Fool proof!
Love it! No programming to learn. If you put two of the cups of rice, then you fill water to the 2 in the pot. Simple! The steamer steams my broccoli while my rice is cooking, no extra oil needed!

We love this small, simple rice cooker
Stainless steel. No forever chemicals contaminating our rice. Non stick is great but not at the expense of your health. It cleans easy, nice and compact, simple rice cooker. Makes plenty enough rice for the 3 of us. I would buy again👍🏻

Does not work in the EU
Not suitable in the EU. you would need a step down converter to operate. This should be way clearer in the description.
