Does this 3 liter jar's lid accept the 3.5" rubber gaskets and is it square as pictured?

Not sure the gasket size but mine came with its own silicon-like gasket.

Labeling states - "gaskets are designed for one-time use only. Is this only when used for canning? We were going to use these as cannisters.

I use the jars as canisters and I take off the metal hardware & gasket when I throw them in the dishwasher. When the gaskets are just keeping air out of the jars, they can last me up to about a year. I've never used them in heat or for canning.

Will a measuring cup up to one cup size fit through the opening?

I think that it might depend on the shape of the cup used. We have a pretty standard stainless steel measuring cup set. The one cup size barely fits in the neck (just verified that). So you might get it in but I doubt that you could scoop anything out. The 1/2 cup fits okay but you would need a long handle to be able to actually use it in any meaningful way.
