GNT Leatherbound Bible Catholic Edition - with Deuterocanonicals/Apocrypha & Imprimatur Leather Bound – August 1, 2011

I assumed this would have a glued binding, since all other American Bible Society publications I know of do. But I looked very closely and tugged at the pages and guess what! They are indeed sewn signatures. You can see the little threads. Wow. To my knowledge, this is the only sewn edition of the Good News Bible. It makes the hefty price tag *almost* worth it.

The Good News Catholic Edition bible is a bible written in everyday "street" language. It's great for teens and young adults. I wouldn't use it for a serious bible study, but definitely and easy read to help you understand God's salvation plan in easy to read, everyday English.

Should be better quality for the money. The leather bonded cover is not 100% leather. The binding is glued not sewed. I have not had this bible long enough to access it's durability though. I like that it is a Catholic edition. I also like the overall size, layout, size of the print and chapter introductions. If this bible cost closer to $30 than $60 I would rate it higher.Update May 2022: This bible is holding up well. Other than fading of the gold lettering on the cover there has been no issues with durability. The translation is easy to understand. I am happy with the purchase and so have upgraded my rating to 4 stars.

The main reason I bought the GNT translation is because it offers a more accurate translation of Luke 14:26, but it's generally more accurate with other verses as well. Shockingly, the vast majority of bible translations have Luke 14:26 using the word "hate", but the GNT uses the words "love me more" which is a lot more accurate. e.g., Lk 14:26 in the NIV bible states "If anyone comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters—yes, even their own life—such a person cannot be my disciple". The same verse in the GNT bible states "Those who come to me cannot be my disciples unless they love me more than they love father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and themselves as well". Big difference. I highly recommend the GNT bible.

I like everything on this bible. Except for the translation that is much different from the New Jerusalem Bible that I am used to.

Very happy with my bible. Came in very good condition like the description said. Could not find 2 Maccabees Chapter 12 Verse 46. Must be a lost verse. Nevertheless I'm very happy to have bought this anyway.

I was so excited to find this edition. It was as described. I had it in my hands 2 days after I ordered it. Print is easy to read.

Each book of the Bible has a preface going over the history and great notes in each chapter, which makes understanding the context of the Bible so much easier.
