For drop ceilings how do you get these to lie flat after you cut them fit the edges?

I cut them in half, trimmed out the part I did not need from the middle, and slid them back together with a slight overlap. I then used double sided tape to bond them together in the middle. I did this in both directions in a couple of places, making a small rectangle. I aimed the seam towards the nearest wall/corner, making it very hard to notice from most of the room.

What do you do if tiles don’t fit evenly and you need to cut a tile to fit the ceiling? Does a cut tile at an edge look bad?

We installed in a bathroom. We tried several types of glue. None worked finally tacked the corners looked terrible. Had to cut several in half for side of room tried using molding over edges looked so bad we look it down and trashed it

Are these strong enough to hold a lightweight LED light in a drop ceiling?

Definitely not. You can buy recessed light cans that use the rails for the drop ceiling. Then just use led bulbs.
