Effective
This machine actually works, no mosquitos or midges (UK) seen while it’s running. Only takes about a minute to heat up. Little wisp of vapour is visible so you can see it’s working. One full charge lasts for 3-4 evenings, and these are now USB type-C like most portable electronics. It looks as if I’m about halfway through the refill cartridge after 14.5hrs use. Shame they’re quite expensive! Looking forward to taking it on vacation to Europe later this summer. My one suggestion for improvement would be - it’s a quick press to turn on, and a long press to turn off. Seems it would be safer to have it the opposite way round to prevent accidental activation in a bag? Also note it comes in bulk packaging (brown cardboard box) rather than the shiny blue product packaging seen here.

Gets the Job Done 💪🏻
I'm a smoker, so I sit outside with my roommate's adorable pup many times throughout the day. We live in a bit of a wooded area, so in the summer and fall, the rain foments an insurrection of mosquitoes breeding/hatching like Solomon and his 700 concubines. I happen to be one of those weirdos who attracts mosquitoes as if I were sweating gold. With the newly found cases of west Nile in my state, I tried to be smart about keeping these leeches off me, to no avail. I tried the burning coils, sprays, ands a different manufacturer's repeller/fan. I used those products for a couple of weeks and would still find myself with anywhere from 2-8 mosquito bites every time I went back into the house. Upon recommendation, I quickly placed an order for same day delivery for this product. As soon as my product showed up I charged it and went back to sit in the same two spaces I regularly lounge and experienced ZERO mosquito bites. I was out there for almost 2hrs. I highly recommend this product, especially because of the extremely affordable price. To date, I've spent close to double the cost (including MULTIPLE replacement cartridges) on the inferior product. No odor, quiet motor, HUGE protection zone, easy loading, and VERY effective. Only thing I might change is the length of time it takes to fully charge, but even that is a miniscule portion of this high quality product. 💪🏻

Compact and modern design
I live in a warm part of the country, and my house has a lovely covered patio that I rarely use due to the mosquitos. I've tried a variety of products to try to get rid of the mosquitos, but so far, nothing has worked all that well. I was thrilled to try Thermacell's E-ZoneGuard Patio Max, because it looked like a modern and effective way to solve my mosquito problem. I really like the compact and sleek design of Thermacell's product. It's smaller than I expected, and looks attractive on my patio table. It was easy to use--just press a button, and a fine mist emerges from the top once it warms up. There are a few things to note the first time you use the product--you do need to charge it for a couple of hours before the first use, and you do have to be careful when handling the pesticide refill. I accidentally spilled a few drops the first time I inserted the refill, and the instructions are clear that you must wash your hands before eating, drinking or using the restroom--similar care instructions that I've seen with any insect repellent. It's good to note that this is not a natural/organic product, it does contain a pesticide and you must use care. Once I charged up the unit and put the refill in place, I set it outside and turned it on for 15 minutes before I wanted to use my patio. I liked that the device is silent, and there are no fragrances or odors. For my first 10 minutes outside, I did not notice any mosquitos in the area. Unfortunately, a mosquito eventually did find me and start biting me. I was sitting within 2 feet of the device, so it should have been working. Perhaps the 100 degree temperature or a breeze made the unit less effective for me on this occasion. I was a little disappointed, but I also feel that most mosquito repellents are not going to be 100% effective all the time. The device did seem to reduce the number of mosquitos on my patio, but I was disappointed that the one biting me did not seem bothered in the least. I think this device is worth checking out if you are someone who wants to use your outdoor space and reduce mosquito irritation. It may not be a miracle solution in every case, but I do like that it's easy to use and does not require applying chemicals to my skin.

Not Worth $55 but does work
I was quite surprised when I received this because I didn’t realize how small it would be. I’m honestly happy about it being so compact as It does what needs to be done yet isn’t an eye sore. I knew it only reaches max of 20ft but I don’t really think that is worth $55. I also found that if it’s windy, the mist/repellent diffuser doesn’t always work within the 20ft radius so it may seem like a smaller area instead of the 20ft. The charge only lasts up to 5hrs. It is not very loud and I like that it’s pet friendly. I appreciate that it’s rechargeable. I do think that there should be better instructions. The refills are around $15 for 40hrs and that is an added expense to think about. I feel like this would be great for the beach in areas where there are annoying flying bugs (but no wind/breeze) or camping. I’m not sure if this is common but the initial cartridge doesn’t seem very full and I’m not sure how it will last the 36hrs that is claimed.

The bug repellent that just works magic on my deck
When using this on our deck we had no issues with bugs of any sort. This was a perfect addition for our deck and put it under our deck table to keep it out of eye sight and provide the benefits of keeping the bugs away for the people and food being served. My family enjoyed that the device worked the full 12 hours without any issue. We went to charge and it took only a few minutes not using it to notice a difference on our deck with bugs starting to go back to being pests as before. There was no smell or anything you could notice- compared to using bug spray or tiki torch options and having to endure the smells of everything and then, also noticing the effect comes and goes whereas this is constant and continuous without issue. The fact this can be out of sight and still provide a large geniune impact was fantastic. It took about 2 hours to fully recharge after using it for the entire 12 hours.

Bugs Stay Away!
The Thermacell Patio Max is an excellent tool in the ongoing battle against mosquitos. I usually don’t go outside in the early evening, because I would get eaten alive if I did. Now I can set this out a few minutes before (ideally 10-15 min, but I don’t always remember that early), and the mosquitos stay far away. It does not work as well on breezy days, since the barrier gets blown away too quickly. But on days when the air is still (and the mosquitoes are out in force), this is perfect! I wish I had purchased one sooner!

Works great!
I was a bit skeptical about whether or not these would work. We have a lot of mosquitoes in our backyard. We have tried things like this before, and none seemed to even come close to fulfilling their claims. These, however, worked very well. The only thing about them is that you need to have them semi-close by. Additionally, I am not sure how well they would cover an entire area where people are sitting at a table and such. I recently used them while staining my deck, but I ended up keeping the device no more than 10 ft away. I put it up on the railing, and it seemed to do well enough. If I was too far away from it, I noticed there were still mosquitoes around. I purchased two of them for my patio (approximately 15 x 15 area) for when I have guests over, but I am thinking I will purchase a few more to get good coverage. And even though they are a little bit pricey, they actually work. With these, no one has to wear smelly lotions or DEET products, making sitting outside and enjoying the patio a fragrance-free experience. If the price isn't a barrier, I 10 out of 10 recommend them!

Moderately effective
For context, I live on Maui and near a gulch. I also seem to attract more mosquitoes than the average person. When I purchased this, I didn’t expect it to be 100% affective and so far I’ve been moderately pleased by how it’s worked. I definitely get bit less. I’ve used it on 4 separate occasions for about 2-3 hours each time and I’d say it does cut down mosquito activity, but not entirely. I’d consider this a good option for a small lanai (patio), but for larger or more open areas I’d consider this as only 1 layer to a getting rid of mosquitoes approach. Battery life seems good - I’ve never gone past the first indicator light and though the liquid pods are pricey, I’m still close to half left after 10ish hours of use. The unit looks nice and the charging dock is nice to have, though it does also have a dedicated usb c to charge too. It’s also really simple to use. Overall, moderately effective and would probably be best suited for smaller spaces/areas.

Bad charging, complicated returns, unhelpful seller.
This item uses an outdated charging cable and does not hold a charge well. When attempting to return the item, the seller refused to provide collection and instead sent lengthy and complicated return instructions, eventually leading to the return window expiring.

Wonderful mosquito repeller
We live nearby a lake and struggle with mosquitoes at home and camping and this has been a blessing to keep them at bay!

Refill arrived half full.
The product wasn't packaged properly. The refill unit had leaked into its plastic bag and absorbed into the cardboard box. Not only do I have less repellant, but metofluthrin is toxic and not supposed to be handled.

Barra protectora pero repuestos caros
Buena barra protectora para que no se acerquen los mosquitos pero si hace mucho aire no está al 100 de protección También le di 4 porque los repuestos son algo caros
