This is the third assembly I have bought. The other two were the 24" and 36" lengths. They are still performing beautifully. The top concern for people looking to buy will most likely be "Will this be enough light for coral growth?" That is the reason I have continued to buy additional units. The pictures show just one example of happy frogspawn corals. The lights are 2" above the water surface and the corals are about 24" deep. These corals were reluctant to open up when I first got them, and they were also in a similar state when they were in the display tank they were purchased from. After a few weeks of acclimating, they are vibrant in color and full in shape. These lights have separate white and actinic (blue) LEDs that can be controlled to be on or off separately. I really enjoy corals that fluoresce. This fixture has several ways to enjoy seeing your corals on display. One method is to time your viewing when the white lights are fading at night and the blues are left on.The remote control can also be used to override separate color intensities by single percentage increments, and easily resume normal programming when done. The remote can also do something that is novel that can't be done with traditional light fixtures. There are four settings at the bottom of the remote for dynamic effects. These are partial cloud cover, partial sunlight, moonlight and thunderstorm. These settings continuously change the light intensity which allows the viewer to observe the inhabitants under shifting light conditions. It's very cool to see the corals under a variety of lighting changes. The unit has two pre-programmed timers for light duration and the ability to create two more programs of your own design. They also feature a ramping on and off of lights so that the change is gradual rather than instant. Maybe that never harmed any fish or coral, but it's a nice benefit for those who are interested in creating as natural of an environment as possible.The remote comes with a spare battery for whenever the time come to replace the original. Whereas I have three of these units, I am still just using the remote from the first box I opened for all three fixtures. There is some assembly required, but it is only connecting of the cords. When your package arrives don't panic if you don't find all the parts immediately. You may need to look in the other end of the box to find another box with more parts inside. The cord lengths are generous. There is about 6 feet from the wall socket to the the adapter, and another 6 feet to the controller. There is about a 4 foot length from the controller pad to the light fixture. For each model's length range, the smaller value is the length of the light fixture and the longer value is obtained by extending the mounting rails to their maximum. For small lights with low power draw, they sure are intense. I've tried to turn the fixture over to clean when it is still on and the light is to intense to be able to do that comfortably.

I have a 36 bow front aquarium set up and I started to dislike how my growth was poor and how dull my tank looks. There are so many brands out there it was practically impossible to decide on which brand to get. However, there was one things that sold me to Current USA rather than the other brands, the price. If you look at the features of Current USA and the price they want, it's so good compared to their competitors. There are other brands with these feature but want anywhere from 200-400 for them. This product is amazing as it states it comes with a 24 hour on/off time, minimum/maximum intensity, and a moonlight. Do your research yourself and see if I'm lying about the competitors prices.When I received this product I opened up the box and you see all of the instructions needed to install the light. It's very basic and not difficult to install at all. The only thing that needed thinking would be the placement of the Ramp Timer Pro, as you can see from my pictures I just nailed down the housing the wall and placed the timer inside. The only downside that I can say about the timer is that it needs to see the remote IR in front of it, not underneath, left, or right. It has to be pointed straight at the timer. But I won't take off a star for that because I used Timer M3 and the light takes care of it self.Overall:- Ever since I installed this light and left the timer on M3, coraline algae as grown everywhere! I love it!- The time function is amazing as I don't have to worry about putting it on or off.- I seen people complain about the timer not working properly. Make sure you set the correct time as they are in 24-hour format. If that is still not the issue Current USA customer support is amazing and they will replace/repair it for you.- I love the fact that the light intensity changes over the course of the day and mixes the blue/white lights.- Having a remote makes it convenient to play with the light. Also, I have seen people complain about how difficult it is to manually adjust the timers with the remote. For a new person in the saltwater hobby, just use one of the four pre-installed timer as they are good at what they do. However, if you want to manually change settings, it's not suppose to be easy on a small remote. It took me around 2 weeks before I fully knew how to change everything I wanted. However, I ended up just sticking with timer M3.For the price and features that this product has, you can not go wrong with this. I would highly recommend this product.

I rarely write reviews, but this product needs it (there is a gotcha if you want to use more than one light).First, the pros. The LEDs put out a fair amount of light for their size. They will light your tank well, but if you have corals, or a deep tank, I don't believe they are enough. I LOVE the controller, its easy to program, allows 4 custom programs, and the remote control is a nice touch. My family likes the thunderstorm feature (not so sure the fish like it though. They run for cover).Con - I have a 72" 175G show tank (deep). Because of this, I expected I'd need additional lights and wanted to put one on each half of my tank. Current USA sells "TrueLumen Pro" lights in several lengths and colors, which I planned to hook up. After purchasing this set-up, I found that this Orbit Marine is 12volt (though the controller is 12 or 24). Every other light that Current sells is 24 volt, and they don't sell just the 12-volt light that comes with this kit (I wrote the manufacturer to ask). So, if this 12v setup is going to throw enough light for you, its a good purchase. If not or you're uncertain, you'll probably want to buy the reefTimer Pro separately, get a 24volt transformer, and buy the Truelumen Pros, since this product is not expandable (well, to be fair, there may be other manufacturer's 12v lights that have the same plugs. I don't know).I ended up using the reef timer pro from this kit, bought a separate 24v transformer, two power splitters and 4 TrueLumen Pros. That's working great. This left an extra 12v transformer and the light from this kit. I've plugged them into a simple AC timer and use them for a few hours of supplemental light during midday (which is not controllable from the remote and is simple on/off). I will probably put them up on ebay for sell or something though.Bottom line, nothing wrong with the 12 v light itself, it just cannot be expanded, contrary to all of the other Current USA products. That's why it lost a star for me but the product seems nice.

8/12/16 Update 9 month old light: I've upgraded my tank from a 6g to a 20g Innovative Marine nano and using the same light. All my corals seem pretty happy and continues to thrive at a consistent rate, except for the candy coral that is just sustaining. I've placed my flowerpot and Duncans near the top and their growth have been pretty good. Third attached picture shows the flowerpot and you can see the new growth at the bottom where the exoskeleton is white. The growth of my corals have been slow but steady which I am happy with given the potential turf wars if the growth rate is any faster. I definitely recommend this light to the leisure hobbyist who is just beginning to dip their toes into saltwater tanks.----------original review below-------------------I got this light for my 6 gal Fluval Edge reef tank. I have mainly polyps, mushrooms, and soft corals. I do have a candy cane and a hammer. I admit, I had mixed feelings about either getting this model or the pro model for double the price. After lots of research and even consulting my local LFS, I went ahead with the purchase. I figure since my tank is barely 8 inches deep, I should have more than enough light. Might be borderline or not enough for the candy cane but I will update this review in a month with progress.11/3/15 - Initial impressionsPros: Easy, intuitive setup. Came with an extra remote battery too. Visually very appealing, it's slim and light and rests right on top of the glass as I had planned. The light it admit into the aquarium was stunning and everything immediately popped.Cons: (nothing yet, will update in a week or two)1/29/16 (update): Still enjoying this light but here are more things to consider:Pros1) Does not heat up and mess with your tank temperatures.2) Simple to use if you don't are not messing with custom programs.3) Program times are accurate (keep my fingers crossed on this since I've read mixed reviews about this.Cons:1) Light is too week for hard corals and anemones. I am tempted to add a Kessil but squirming at the price.* Hammer coral head missing was not because of the light. I was away on vaca for a week and found the rock knocked over with the head buried in the sand. It didn't recover from the fall.2) Thunderstorm setting reminds me of strobe lights and gives me a headache so it's useless to me.3) Light doesn't span and only targets directly underneath for those who may have tank with longer depth.Second picture was taken recently so you guys can compare.

This is a good light for seeing the fish and owner enjoyment. If you are a hard core reef keeper with fancy coral you will need to get more than one to get the PAR you need. If you have a nice fish only tank and just want to see the fish this is great. I actually put it on an African cichlid tank and it works great, brings the blues out in my fish great and I like that it will run a full day and night cycle with a dawn and dusk without my intervention is great. This is not the brightest light by far, but it is also very reasonably priced for what you get. Like I said if you are a hard core reef keeper this is probably not going to make you happy unless you have a very, very shallow tank. If you don't need a bright light and want a nice light to see the fish this is a great light, best one out there in my opinion. There are many brighter ones, but they cost a lot more too. This light uses a lot of low watt LED's. It is cheaper to put a lot of low watt LEDs then fewer high watt LEDs. The problem is that the low watt LEDs don't penetrate the water as well as the high watt ones do. High watt LEDs are good for growing things, low watt lights look nice and are cheaper to build and you have more ability to use different color LEDs if you have a lot of them. The dynamic lighting modes are what sets this light apart. If you have not yet, go on YouTube and watch the videos. The modes are pretty cool. The lightening mode is the favorite of my kids and it is pretty realistic for a light with a small controller. Other LED lights out there are much brighter, but you pay more, they are harder to program and they turn the white lights on or off and the blue lights on or off. This fixture is able to vary the lights much more. It has a nice dawn and dusk feature that is fully programmable and being able to sit and watch the simulated clouds go over my fish tank is pretty fun to watch. Honest truth is that as far as the fish are concerned they don't really need any light. As long as they can find the food that is all they care about. This light is for the owner and if you don't have to grow plants or coral, why waste the money, energy and time on a higher watt light that you have to clean the algae in the tank more? Just wish they made the freshwater plus light with the controller...

The description states "Designed specifically for saltwater aquarium environments, the Orbit Marine is the perfect choice for marine aquarists at any level."I had high hopes for this product after reading the reviews, however there's absolutely no way it can grow anything that needs light like corals. Admittedly, I have a small tank so it's possible that larger versions of this light work better, but I highly doubt it. The 24" version makes your tank look bright and pretty and the spectrum is spot on, but it's just not powerful enough for the light to reach anything deeper than a few inches below the surface. My corals were struggling and after checking everything else twice, I ordered a Seneye Reef to use as an inexpensive PAR meter. I expected it to be a little low, but the highest reading with this light at 12" was only 7. I was so surprised that I took the Seneye over to my local fish store and compared it with their PAR meter to verify it was actually working! Needless to say, it's readings were fine and the light really was that weak. I immediately ordered the Aqua Illumination Prime HD. For comparison, the PAR from the AI light at 12" depth is between 150 and 190 in my tank.The description also states "By combining the industry's first Dual Daylight and Dual Actinic LED spectrums with our innovative Ramp Timer Pro LED controller, Current USA offers a complete 24 hour aquarium lighting solution. Now you can simulate a gradual sunrise, sunset and customized moonlight like never before."I don't know if Current USA was the first or not, but just about every LED lighting solution I looked into says they can do the same thing. Further, I can personally confirm that the AI product does this, and does it significantly better.

Absolutely love this light! I have this on a 20 long reef as well as a the smaller model on a 10 reef. Both are doing very well and my corals are thriving. The remote has tons of options to adjust the lighting to your specific needs and desires. I leave mine on the main program day and night cycles with the sunrise and sunset features. Those latter features seem to really help the tank settle down at night and "wake up" in the morning. The corals open and close gently over time as the lights very slowly fade into the dark blue and then completely turn off at night, and then turn back on and fade in from dark blue to white/mix the next morning. As mentioned, my corals are incredibly happy with this light. They are growing well and my hammer, in particular, is splitting again as I write this!This light does not give off very much heat. It will feel a little hot if you place your hand right on the top of it while it's been on all day, but it will not burn you and can still be easily moved while on without any discomfort. The temps only swing about .5 degrees max in my tanks between evenings and days (lights off and on), but that could also just be the regular house temps affecting it as well.I've received several compliments on this light and my illuminated tanks. Visitors seem most impressed with the sleek and slim design of these lights, the ease in which they can be moved when needed, the intensity of light and it's effect on everything in the tanks, as well as the sunrises and sunsets (which seem to be the most intriguing of features to guests).I would highly recommend this light to anyone interested. It is affordable, aesthetically pleasing, practical, and offers an amazing variety of options. The only setting I would not recommend is the thunderstorm, which can frighten and stress your tank. But the cloudy day feature is an interesting setting to mix things up and add some variety to your daily lighting with subtle and slow changes.

I bought this light to replace a 4 x 24" T5 fixture. I have a 36" long 40 breeder aquarium with a 4-5" deep sand bed, with the light mounted about 1" above the surface of the tank.I chose this light based on all the positive reviews, images, and videos, both here and on YouTube. In summary, this light is not very bright at all. I know it's cheap compared to the high end LED fixtures, so I wasn't expecting much in terms of PAR, which is fine as I only have low-light corals. However, I was hoping that it would appear "visually" bright. It doesn't. I have the blues and whites cranked up to maximum (I've tried it manually as well as both full-power programs), and it's still extremely dim compared to my T5 fixture. This is especially perplexing when you consider that others are lighting up larger tanks with this light and appear to be getting better results (i.e. replacing T5s and getting similar lighting levels). It just doesn't seem to penetrate the water very well - it's very bright to look at (too bright to look at directly, much brighter than my T5s), but very dim when viewed in the aquarium. So, it's possible that this one is defective, but I don't think so considering how bright it looks when viewed directly, and based on the fact that all the LEDs appear to light up.On the positive side, I like the dimming features, it's easy to program, and the colors are nice. In particular, I like the whites - I don't know if it's the "dual spectrum" or what, but the whites themselves look very natural. There's little to no disco effect, and the colors blend nicely. So, I'll give it two stars for color and features, but no more than two since it's not a complete lighting solution, and I'm left with having to find something else.This leaves me torn about what to do next - since the color, features, and price are good, but it's just not bright enough, do I get a second fixture hoping that the two of them together will be bright enough? Or do I give up on Current USA go in a totally different direction?I'm leaning towards getting a second Current Marine Orbit fixture, and seeing how it appears visually from there. Pictures & videos of this fixture over 20 gallon tanks look very good, so I'm hoping that 2 of them will look just as good over a 40 gallon tank. If so, I may revise my rating up by a star or two, with the caveat / general guideline that "one foot of light per 10 gallons" would be a good guideline for the Current USA Marine Orbit series.UPDATE: I've had two of these fixtures for about 7 months now, and the velcro mounting system for the timers has failed several times. The glue on the back of the velcro has failed, causing the timers to fall. Usually they just swing free and hang from the canopy, but one of them fell in my ATO and was severely damaged (the display is no longer readable). I have since replaced the velcro with Command Adhesive strips, which have been flawless.I have a warranty claim going with Current USA now, I'll update this review again with their response. However, if you are considering this fixture, do yourself a favor and throw out the velcro, use Command Adhesive strips instead.

I love this lights. I bought the 48-60inch for my 6 feet aquarium. I love the amount of control I have over each channel (Blue and White) You can control from 0 to 100% of luminosity on each channel. The light is VERY bright. I use only 5% of each channel because the type of fish I keep don't like too much light. The moonlight is amazing, as well as the Sunrise/Sunset features. It doesn't take long for you to understand how to program each channel with the remote and save your preferences to one of the 4 presets.I would buy it again.

Been looking to upgrade the basic, white/blue/off light on my Fluval Marine Spec 60 litre tank for something much more controllable. Liked the look of this as it appeared it's possible to install it and retain the original aquarium cover. Was a bit apprehensive about ordering something from the USA to use here in the UK, but so far there have been no issues at all.It arrived 10 days!! earlier than the expected delivery date, very well packaged. Good set of accessories for running the cables etc. Instructions are very clear. No issues running on the 230 volt supply here as the power supply is dual voltage, but you will need an adapter plug to adapt the 3 pin UK mains sockets to the flat 2 pin US style connector. I'm also using a surge protector power socket on my aquarium to ensure a stable power supply as an extra precaution.Installing on the Fluval aquarium to retain use of the existing aquarium cover requires some modification to the cover itself and requires a hacksaw, small file and long nose pliers. The cuttings into the plastic cover are not visible externally when the cover is in place and the appearance makes the light unit look like it's a natural part of the cover. There is a slight gap between the cover and the aquarium as the light unit support bracket hangs over the end of the aquarium glass, but this isn't too unsightly. See photos.Some reviews complain about the complexity of the remote control, whilst it does need you to RTFI, it's straightforward enough and gives a huge improvement to control over the light levels for white, red, green and blue, for sunrise/sunset, daytime and evening. The transition duration times of the sunset/sunrise and evening moonlight periods are fixed but you can specify the sunrise and sunset times as you wish. The weather simulations are fun to watch.Overall so far I'm very pleased, it's good value for money, but I have opted for the Amazon 2 year warranty for peace of mind.Great delivery service from the Current USA manufacturer.

All I can say is wow, great lights for the price. Installed really easily and once I set the 24hr clock to my local time it automatically adjusted to the pre-programmed day/night cycle and instantly made my reef tank look amazing.100% recommend. My corals are already happy and the lights have only been up and running for an hour :)
