Whether it will fit sloan royale, I am not sure **Q: How many flushes or how long does the battery last?** A: As per Sloan Flush valve specifications, Battery type, (4) C Alkaline. battery life 3 years @ 3000 flushes/Month **Q: what is a unit? It says 5 units $156.00. That does not seem correct.** A: of course is wrong , in my solely opinion I think whoever create the list was trying to point out he dimensions 5 X 6 X7 IN **Q: What is the black part sticking out the top?** A: The picture is shown vertically rather than the normal way you would see it, which is horizontally. If for some reason the auto-flush does not work, you can press on that black plastic piece to manually flush. These things are great.
