You might be able to put the surface in the main compartment, but it won't fit in the tablet compartment. I would recommend the Ruby, the Kayla, or the Midway Relate as possible solutions. **Q: Where is the laptop compartment? Is it on the back panel where it opens or against the front? Is there a zippered compartment in the main compartment?** A: The main compartment on the Vogue Large backpack is accessed by a U-shaped zipper on the back panel. When you unzip this, there is a padded compartment for a tablet (it may hold a small laptop depending on the brand) on the panel where it opens. The tablet will be against your back when you wear the backpack. On the opposite panel, there is a zippered pocket inside the main compartment. There is also one zippered pocket on the front exterior of the bag.
