Would this be recommended for beginners? I've never painted before but i would love to start

I have to say, this was an easy paint for me to do but I've been painting these for about 3 years now.. This one does involve mixing colors to make the right tones and I think you would have an easier time not starting with paintings that you don't have to mix. If you so try this one, just make sure you don't over mix with the paints you risk running out of them. Happy Painting!

Do you have to mix the paints?

It came with 18 pre-mixed paints and then additionally 12 or 13 colors had to be mixed with equal parts of the paints for a total of about 30 colors. I bought little mixing pots with lids for mixing the paint so the mixed paint would stay moist when I needed to use it again. This painting doesn't look as much like a paint by number because it has so many colors.

Is this a canvas panel or printed on primed canvas cloth. If on cloth, how much extra empty border is there for mounting.

It's a canvas panel ( card board like material) and there is no empty border for mounting. Paints to the edge .

Does this kit require you to blend your own colors?

Yes. All the Dimensions Paintworks series require mixing of some of the colors. The mixture is easy because the required shade is a 50/50 miix, so it's not at all difficult.
