Keeps squirrels out.
I used this around my outside flower pots to keep chipmunks and squirrels from digging my flowers out. It cuts easily with scissors.I ancored it down with pieces of metal cut from old wire hangers. It worked good. will use tham next year.

They WORK!
These work! I live iin a townhome that faces an alley and of course I have an alley cat issue. I put these along the tops of my fence line and those cats no longer come into my backyard. It is the only thing that has kept them out of my backyard. I had to put them on my door mat bevauae they were urinating on it. I put these down and they just walk right passed it. Cats are creatures of habit and once you break that habit they will change course. They stay away from my house and I am relieved.

Works great to keep the cats away
I love cats, but my neighbor's kitties were coming over to pee on my house. My camera recorded them. I laid these spike mats out out, and the kitties have avoided them. It's been over a year, and the mats still work. Interestingly, other animals don't mind the spikes at all.

They seem to work.
It seems to work. I have feral cats in my neighborhood, and they like to sleep on the chair and bench on my porch. I installed these mats and they seem to have done the trick of keeping the cats off the furniture. They are lightweight and easy to use, easy to remove/replace (I just lift them off and slide them under the furniture until it's time to put them back on again), and seem to be reasonably durable so far. They are not super-sturdy, but they don't have to be for my particular application... they just have to keep the cats off, and they seem to do that just fine. Yes, I would recommend them and/or buy them again.

Please Be Aware of Size and Assembly Situation
I bought these mats instead of a spike strip because they are described as 1 inch wider than the strips, making the total area a better value than the strips and offsetting the need to connect them; however, the assembled mats measured 11 inches wide, just like the strips (see photo). I contacted the seller, who told me the width is 11.81 inches, which I guess includes the length of the connectors on the ends because the mats themselves didn't measure that way. Additionally, only the long edges include connectors, so if you want the full 160 inch (13.3ft) length, you will need to come up with a way to connect the mats yourself (I used bread ties). FYI, the length of the mat when I connected the long sides together was 9 ft 5 inches. I think these mats might be better suited for people who want to cover area around things instead of along things. My box included 10 mats and 7 metal stakes. It did not include instructions for joing the mats, which gave me a few pokes and scrapes. I eventually settled on slipping the rectangular connector over the split arrowhead (it'll make sense when you look at the pictures =-) and pressing one edge of the rectangle down until it popped beneath the edge of the arrowhead, then twisting til the other edge popped down led to the fewest ouchies. They were easier than I'd expected to undo as well by twisting in the opposite direction. the mats were molded with rectangular connectors throughout which were oriented in different directions, which would be convenient for cutting and fitting the mats, and there were even spikes molded in that I thought could be snipped out and used for extra ground stakes, or maybe folded out to hook onto neighboring mats. I'm happy with my final mat, but if I'd understood how the product had been measured, I would have got a better value with less hassle by purchasing a strip.

No more dogs pooping on the corner of my property!
This product really works. I have trimmed it and cut it to position area surrounding the post where the numbers to our house is. The dogs will step on it and leap off immediately. No more dogs peeing on that post and no more dogs pooping on my garden right at the entrance to my home. This is a marvelous thing. I see the same dogs that used to dump right there walk on it and immediately run off. They never do it twice. And it’s fairly good looking as well! It’s a dark area surrounding the flowers that I have growing there and looks really quite elegant and professional. I can’t help running to the window every time a dog walks by to watch them, not poop on my yard. The dogs in the neighborhood have learned, they don’t even sniff in that direction anymore. They just walk on by. UPDATE: I still love this solution to my problem. Having had it down now since my first entry, I have discovered these trap small leaves in the fall. I just pull them up, stacked, rake the leaves, and re-apply. Presto! A neat, new look. Also - now the Unconscionably Rude Dog Walkers who leave their dog's poop have selected another part of my front border upon which to leave their feces, despite my lovely garden filled with summer flowers for all to admire and take delight in. (sigh) I am prepared to cover all of my parking strip if I have to; I have ordered 10 more boxes. UPDATE: August 11, 2025. MAN I love this stuff! There is no single dog who will stop and poop on my property, even when their owner encourages them to. They just don't step on it twice. Yes yes yes! AND, it looks like a high-definition mulch! My sedums grow right up through it, flowers and all! When I weed, I sometimes remove them and then replace them. They get trampled a little by enthusiastic children testing them out, but - hey - that's entertainment! I don't mind that. It's dog poop left for me to deal with I don't want. And that is working!!!!!

Best solution!
After trying numerous times to deter the dogs and cats to stay out of my trees and vines, I decided to purchase these "spikes". They are easy to put together, you can cut to size, they weigh nothing and are easy to attach to each other. I did find that they work immediately without harming the animals' paws. I have an oval shape around my trees and it was easy to cut to size. I do with they included more U-shaped pieces to help keep the mats in place, but overall, I'm happy with the result, the trees and vines are now safely protected, they can grow without any disruption.
