I have little padding on my feet and need a safe cushioned mat to stand on.** A: There is just suction cups on the bottom, not really padding. It is safe and does not slide but I also wear beach shoes in the shower as my feet need support. I want to avoid a fall. Thanks!** A: It grips some, but as others pointed out it doesn't grip as well as other mats. My elderly mother did slip in the shower with this mat and the mat was bunched up to the side, showing it slid when she lost her balance. I checked under the mat and it was clean, it didn't have a buildup of anything that would make it slippery or cause it to lose suction. We replaced it. **Q: Does the water drain through the whole thing? Not just the center?** A: I cut out the plastic pebbles in middle of the mat. Drains fine. Just pick up and wash it in washing machine with towels and put back in shower and suction cups on bottom, hold it in place.
