## Description

Fein MultiMaster Tool MM 500 Start Oscillating Kit - StarLock Max Mount, 350W High-Performance Corded Multi Tool for Interior Construction and Renovation - 72295264090

Review: Mighty Fein - My first multi-tool was the original Dremel, and I gave it a favorable review here. Over time, though, it began to show its budget roots and eventually pretty much fell apart. That was a blessing really, because it was a very hot and noisy device that simply was not up to the construction sorts of projects I used it on. Now Fein's prices are so much lower that I just could not pass this up. I wanted the simple kit and will buy both Fein and Bosch attachments for it as I need them, for specific projects. They are indeed expensive, but are of good quality and there is a huge variety for all sorts of things. And in the end there is no good alternative for many of the jobs this tool is used for. Clearly this is a whole different beast than the light duty Dremel (I think they make a heavier duty version now). I experimented with all sorts of uses and it never got hot and the vibration is very low, a huge improvement. Clearly it has far more power and the soft start is appreciated. The cutting action itself is noisy, nothing can be done about that, but the 350 itself is quiet. It cut through some test pieces fast, just like the videos. Very impressive. The attachment process is a kick, so much better than the allen wrench approach. People complain that the old attachments are now obsolete and that is understandable. It should be noted that the attachment method and the claimed better performance wins out. I hate throwing out my old blades, but this system should be viable for many years and likely in the end be a better investment. The line-up of attachment options is bewildering. There are so many that even desertcart doesn't carry them all, yet at least. You really have to study the catalogue as it is the only half-way clear source of information of what is available and the various grades and uses. Most of us will not buy every single option, win the lotto first, but a few different attachments will do most every thing most of us want to do. And there are blades for specialty tasks and those who need those will be thrilled to have them. I was at first put off by the bag. How much is a plastic box anyway? But now I am happy. You know it takes 10 minutes to stuff the cords into the cases that come with tools. And the Fein has a really long cord. With the bag you can simple throw it in and be done with it. Actually a superior option for many of us. There needs to be a good little case to hold the attachments, at least the blades and sanding stuff. This is a quality product and I am glad I now have it, could have used it before on some tough projects.
Review: There is no substitute - I've used a bunch of different multitools, but the Fein is the king of them all. It's just constructed to a different level of engineering and quality control than the rest, certainly anything from a big box store. Very powerful motor that does not quit, smooth with minimal vibration, long cord. I had two other multitools and after using a borrowed Fein sold both of them and bought a Fein. It's that good. That said, the Starlock attachment design is a great advance in design for these tools but limits you to certain brands of blades/attachments, which tend to be more expensive. They also last a lot longer than cheaper blades. But you can't just shove a cheap "universal" blade in one of these and get to work.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is there an adapter for the starlock plus to fit regular starlock blades?**
A: Not yet, the starlock plus blades are compatible with older starlock models for both Fein and Bosch multi-tools, unfortunately if you have the newer starlock plus model, than you need starlock plus blades. The plus side is that both Bosch and Fein make a full line of blades so finding them should be a snap.

**Q: Is there a universal adaptor for this?**
A: Not that I know of but fein makes one with a Universal attachment same model other then that

**Q: How much does the tool with battery weigh?**
A: It weighs just under 4lbs (3.8)

**Q: What is the amps and can i use accessories that are generic unlike Dremel Multitool which requires you to buy only thier blades etc...?**
A: 2.4 amps @ 120 VAC. Accepts blades from other manufacturers, does NOT require Fein blades.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The best oscillating tool in the world
*by S***G on March 8, 2021*

I’ve used wired and battery-powered oscillating tools before, and this tool is far better than any other oscillating tool I’ve ever used. It’s much quieter and far less fatiguing to use. Previously, I always needed hearing protection, or I felt exhausted from the noise and vibrations. Not anymore. This tool is powerful. It works much faster than my other oscillating tools ever did. I can cut and sand quickly. I didn’t find how the tool attachments worked to be intuitive the first time I put one on, but after the first one, now I think it’s easier to swap attachments. I regret I didn’t buy this device as my first oscillating tool.
