Q: What makes this better than the surfboard models by Motorola, I mean, Netgear must be proud of this modem, it is the most expensive one on the market?

I went through three Motorola modems in less than two months. I bought them locally from a Big Box store and I finally broke down and purchased the Netgear CM700 back in 2017 and it’s still running multiple items like a champ. I should buy a new one in case this one finally does go out. I have never been disappointed with any Netgear products that I have purchased. The Motorola surfboard modems would overheat and it would stop working properly. I was only getting about 35mbs at the time. I even bout a separate fan cooling device to try to stop them from overheating, but they still kept burning out. The last Motorola surfboard modem I purchased was from Amazon and it was on March 16th 2016. It didn’t last very long either. It was yrs ago and it was much more expensive then, as these devices are almost outdated by the time you get them. It was a MOTOROLA 16x4 Cable Modem, Model MB7420, 686 Mbps DOCSIS 3.0,and after it went south, I purchased a Netgear modem and router. I had owned Netgear in the past with no issues, but when Time Warner and Spectrum were in the merger process, Netgear wasn’t able to be used in our area.

Q: Is it worth getting this modem if docsis 3.1 is coming out next year, 2016?

why is this 2015 question up on top here? it's 2022 now. docsis 3.0 is so behind us. docsis 3.0 max download: 1 Gbps docsis 3.1 max download: 10 Gbps that's according to Wikipedia. those numbers don't appear to be dictated by any DOCSIS specs. but it seems they are de facto limits these modem manufacturers have adopted.

Q: This modem is on time warner cable's list. will it work with it? description only refers to comcast.

I had a TWC Tech at my house today because I was unable to the the reported 300/20 speeds supposedly available with my Netgear C3700 modem. (I was only getting 110/10) He called into their desk and they said the C7000 (AC1900) was supported on their network and would give me the speeds they are supposed to give..

Q: I see some marketplace seller selling it for 35 USD, are these genuine products ?

Not sure how they are selling for $35... cant help you with that. I had purchased this for around $225...and was planning to sell it as I am no longer using it. Its as good as a new one and comes with all box.
