Foxe’s Book of Martyrs

Finally Found a Good Rendition!
Beautiful book with an easy to read formatting. Not copied and pasted but actually formatted to suit the pages. The text is readable and very clear, not blurry or photo copied. It must have been hand typed. Totally worth the $9. Would be worth $20.Each paragraph is separated with bold headers so it’s easy to see where you are reading. Great margin space for notes!Amazing book for any Christian. Will totally help one remember the Church of Christ was built on blood not wealth or strategy. It really hits the heart and transforms the mind encouraging one to keep pursuing their faith despite all odds. There is still persecution now but after reading this book one would remember the crowd of brothers and sisters who have died for the faith and it just gives you a backbone of steel you know?To pursue Christ if it costs one everything and to preach the gospel without fear or hindrance knowing that the Church will still prevail even if ALL of hell went against her.“I will build my Church upon this Rock and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.”

Great Book, Nice Design
I chose this particular version of this book because of the design. The cover is nice and I love the soft-touch laminate. As far as the book itself goes, it is a must-have for anyone interested in Christian church history.

** The stories in Foxe’s Book of Martyrs are poignant and inspiring. What these men and women endured for the Name of Y’shua in most instances is horrific. Their sacrifice brings one back to the torturous six hours Y’shua hung from the cross. And ponder if one has the love and commitment these days to suffer the same for Him. ** I like the feel of this book. Nice size for holding to read. Slightly weighty but elderly should be able to handle. ** The binding inhibits easily flattening pages to read. Not a biggie. ** No Content page. Page 1 begins chapter 1. No index. ** 21 chapters. 245 pages. ** Chapter 1 gives summary review of each disciples martyrdom. It’s one thing to read in the Bible Paul was beheaded. Another to read in Foxe’s book Matthew was axed to death, or that Mark was dragged to pieces at the idol of Serapis. Polycarp was burnt. Frlicitatis , a Roman lady of means lost seven sons to martyrdom and beheaded herself. I have so much more appreciation for these men and women who suffered and sacrificed so that today Christians may enjoy their freedom of religion (so far). ** Each chapter deals with a period of persecution: chapt 2, The Ten Primitive Persecutions; chapt 4, Papal Persecutions; chapter 16, Persecutions In England During The Reign of Queen Mary, etc format. ** My 4 star rating for print size. The type is easily read, but the pixel small enough I need my magnifying glasses. Young eyes should have no problem. ** And, it would be nice to have a Content page for easy referral/reference, especially if one is studding the book than just reading. Lots of tabs marking. ** No problem with supplier. Delivery was timely. Book arrived without damages. Recommend seller and product. ** An amazing research project. Well written and certainly holds one’s attention.

Print is too small
I had to return this book because the print was too small. It's very hard to read. They should just add more pages and make the font normal size!

History
Stunning and disturbing. The book is about devotion to Christ and humankind's history of sacrifice for Christ. It gives a sad (and gruesome) account of those who would not deny Jesus. Get the book.

Tiny writing
Really don’t recommend buying this print. The font is tiny and it’s not enjoyable to read. Otherwise, a book worth having, but other prints are available.Maranatha
