Does the description actually say that the accuracy is within 20deg. F? That much off could kill a lot of fish

Yes, and it's actually 20 degrees plus or minus - so it's technically accurate within a range of 40 degrees. Now, you are correct that this doesn't help much in a typical aquarium, unless you have Lavafish. The common Lavafish (Mythicalus Gullabillious) likes his water around 12,000 degrees F - or 15,000 degrees during breeding season - so this product would be perfect for Lavafish enthusiasts. Unfortunately it melts at around 380 degrees, but lets not nitpick.

Need replacement battery type/code please.

The battery code is 357A for the fluval thermometer

Can I access with my phone?

No, it is not Bluetooth or wifi in anyway. The only way it can tell you the temp is by looking at it.

Not so much a question but description says accurate within 20 degrees...........give or take boiling or freezing

i would question the accuracy doesn’t match other readings
