Zmodo 1080p Mini WiFi Pet Camera Two-Way Audio Smart Home Camera with Night Vision, Compatible with Alexa & the Google Assistant (2 Pack)

Security cameras are a great way to secure your home. Today, we have an affordable way to get into security cameras, which is the Zmodo Mini Cam. This retails for only $20, which is a pretty great price considering all it offers. The product comes in a white plain box which is easy to open. Inside, we find the two cameras, two cables and plugs which use microUSB, two brackets for mounting, and two sets of screws for mounting. So the box includes everything you need. To set up the device, we download the Zmodo app available on the App Store and the Google Play Store. We click the plus button in the top right corner, and click QR code setup, since later in the setup process we will show a QR code to the camera for it to connect. We then plug in the camera, turn off silent mode since we will receive voice instructions. We need to connect our phone to the Wi-Fi network we want our camera to be connected to. Keep in mind the camera does not support 5Ghz networks. We enter the Wi-Fi password and we are presented with the QR code to connect the device to Wi-Fi. After it connects, we choose a device name and we choose a password. With the purchase of these mini cams, we are provided one month free of Zmodo’s cloud service, which we will get into in a moment. After the trial, it’s either $50 a year or $5 per month. So it’s a very simple setup. Let’s start with the design. I think the design is exceptional. It looks very simple and modern with the reflective black front. It’s a simple design which means it should fit nicely around the home. I love how light and portable the camera is. The lightness makes it easy to mount and the small size means it can fit pretty much anywhere. The hinge can rotate all the way flat, or all the way forward. The camera can also swivel around, which can be useful when mounting the camera. It has a small blue light on the side when it’s operating but it isn’t too bright to be bothersome. So overall, the design is very good. Now let’s talk about the features of this security camera. It has 1080p and I can definitely notice that. The live streaming is clear and not pixelated. It also has an intercom feature which lets you talk through the camera. While the speaker is not very clear, it’s perfectly fine for talking through it and it’s nice to have. The camera also has night vision which allows it to see in the dark. The camera also works with Alexa and Google Assistant. This means if you have an Echo Show, or a fire tv, you can view the camera live by just saying show me the bedroom, for example or whatever the camera is named. The same works with Google assistant, such as with a Google nest hub. One of the interesting things about this device is the cloud feature. The cloud service makes the camera much better. As mentioned earlier, this device comes with one month free cloud service, which is nice. After that, it’s $50 per year or $5 per month for the premium plan, and $100 per year or $10 per month for the platinum plan. The premium plan has 7 days of 24/7 cloud recording, which means even if an intruder destroys the camera, the footage won’t be lost. On the other hand, the platinum plan has 30 days of 24/7 cloud recording. For the premium plan, there is 7 days of alert clip storage, while for the platinum there is 30 days. Alert clip storage is the alerts that you see in your notifications. With the cloud plan, these will be stored. Other than that, both plans are the same. They both let you set motion detection zones and they both have video editors and time lapse clips. They both also have AI enabled object detection, which uses advanced machine learning to detect what’s going on in the footage. This can detect multiple things, such as people, animals, and vehicles. It’s a cool feature and I think it’s a great implementation. Keep in mind the cloud isn’t required though. The camera still records clips of motion free of charge. Now let’s talk about the app. The app is simple, intuitive, and it has some good features. The app is structured around four tabs: Home, Events, Cloud, and Me. Home is where you configure your notifications and can view the live view of your cameras, or the recorded playback. The events tab is where you see the motion clips. If you have the cloud service, it will take you to the time the motion occurred in the 24/7 footage. The cloud tab is where you can subscribe to the cloud service and see the various plans. And finally, the me tab is where you manage your account, get product support, and more. Overall, the app is simple and easy to use. So overall, I would highly recommend this product. The nice compact design, nice features, good cloud service, machine learning object detection, good app, really makes this a complete package. Additionally, the camera only costs $20 which is an exceptional value considering all it offers.

Good customer service

I just received my Z Modo cameras and I’m very excited to put them to the test. My other cameras have worked flawlessly for being able to monitor my chickens in my chicken coop. The infrared technology is so great that I can always see them, even if it’s at night. The app is pretty good as well, and has worked without any issues. I do wish that it could be potentially faster, but maybe it is due to my Internet speed. The one thing that was always lacking, was the ability to talk to my chickens when I’m away. I really do think that being able to make sounds Will definitely improve the way that I’m able to be with my chickens but do it while I am traveling and away from home. I also plan to use these with my dogs. It’s been hard during Covid to leave them home and not be able to speak to them when they are doing something naughty, like jumping on the couch, or ripping up some thing in boredom. It will be so great to be able to surprise them and be able to train them while I’m away from the house. This product looks super cool. I’m glad the set came with two of them. The camera is physically smaller than the previous version which I have, but they look quite similar in color and in quality. With these two cameras, I will have a total of about eight of them. I haven’t been able to compare these cameras to my existing ones in terms of quality, but based on the specifications I think that it will be a lot better quality and viewing. I will be sure to update my review once I have been able to put them through the steps in a couple months. I’m very glad that they included the charger which matches the same adapter as the ones I previously had. This makes it really easy for me to switch out my old cameras with this new one. A lot of other companies like Apple have changed the power adapter size, making it really difficult to use old plugs just so they can charge us more money. I’m really glad that this company hasn’t done that so that all my previous equipment is transferable to the others. I was able to seamlessly connect these new cameras up to my existing ZMoto app. I’m very excited to use these new cameras as it just gives me peace of mind around the home. It’s really cool to be able to purchase these as a fraction of the price of the Google camera products. I do have a google product. I really like it as well. But it’s just not very affordable to have 10 of them around the house. I will go bankrupt if I had to purchase that many and basically get the same experience. I would highly recommend this product to my friends and family. I think they are super useful, easy to connect, easy to use, and are very valuable in giving you peace of mind around the home. Not really using it for security reasons, but mainly to look after an interact with my animals around the house. I also use them when my little kids are sleeping, in case they need help in the middle of the night. It’s going to be really awesome to be able to talk to them when they are still in their room and I am sitting on the couch!. This is a really cool product, and I can’t wait to use it.

Nice upgrade to the Zmodo family! We have been using the Zmodo cameras for the past three years and been very happy with the quality and service. We needed two additional indoor cameras and decided to check out the newer version of the camera that had been released on Amazon. As always, they arrived quickly, the packaging was very nice and the set up was easy. These new cameras provide a much better picture then the older version and I was surprised at the quality difference! We ended up moving these to higher traffic areas since they have a better picture and motion detection. The two-way audio works very well and is clear on both ends. I love that the ability to monitor the cameras from the app is so user friendly and making changes is a breeze as well. The app allows you to take screenshots, download video clips and even do a time-lapse video throughout the day. The motion detection events make it very easy to monitor what happened through the day as well. Since we have cameras inside and outside I can choose to have notifications turned on for each camera individually which is great- I don’t need an alert when someone walks through my kitchen, but someone in the backyard or at the door is important! My only downside of this version of the camera is the stands- if you plan to mount the hardware then no issues, it comes with everything you need to mount it, but if you are planning to have it sitting on a shelf or something similar, the stands are a bit smaller then the old design and the unit is top heavy. I was able to get it to work with the addition of a command strip, but something to keep in mind when installing and setting up the cameras. I think for the price of the cameras they are a steal and you get a lot of bang for your buck- we have two other companies outdoor cameras and doorbell and I’ve been unimpressed with the quality of those, motion detection and the high cost of the cloud service. We will be replacing that companies with zmodo and will be keeping an eye out for a doorbell camera too!

Before buying these cameras check out the reviews for their app on App Store, the app you must use to access your cameras. They did an updated around early May that now makes their app, and therefore cameras virtually useless for security purposes. Now you cannot access your cameras without going through pages, yes PAGES of ads. At one point I had to X out 7 ads before getting to my camera! Some ads require you to watch them for what seems like forever before an X appears for you to bypass the ad. Once in a blue moon the opening app screen will come up with one ad that encompasses the whole screen except for a tiny thin line at the top to touch and continue to app but this line is so thin your finger often accidentally touches the full screen ad and takes you into it instead. I have three cameras at my home, my brother has more than that, and we have several cameras at our 91 year old mom’s house to check on her wellbeing. I don’t have a subscription but so land for the cameras expecting for them to be functional when you need to check on the immediate security of your house or loved one. My brother pays for the subscription and still has these ridiculous ads. I have contacted their support email three times each time receiving a canned response about them looking into this. I placed a review on their app download page and received same canned response. There are pages and pages and pages of bad reviews now on their app since this update took place and the ads infiltrated their app. The update was over three months ago and even with inundation of all the bad reviews and their response with the promise of looking into it, nothing has been done. This system now has become useless for security and we will be shopping for different cameras. Advice, do NOT buy these cameras! They have become useless, frustrating, maddening, and unsafe as a security device.
