Mortise chisel 5 mm (0.1969 inch)

Excellent quality! Required no fine tuning at all. Came ready to use right out of the box. Only issue was the handle feels really light in the hand; and took some getting use too. Otherwise it’s an amazing quality Mortising chisel!

i had heard about Narex and expected the usual half truths, i also read that they were Check inferior came blunt and were a b@#ch to set up. here is what i found... chisels come SHARP out of the pack (no box), shafts are THICK quality heavy steel ( you may want to take sandpaper to the shaft corners as they are true and sharp corners may be uncomfortable). handles are lovely finished dark wood with satin finish, the ferrules where handle joins blade and where strike nub is are both sturdy anfit for purpose steel instead of the usual inferior brass, aliminium or even resin. all in all these are comfortabl to hold and thick adn heavy enough to reassure that they wont bend or snap if given an over enthusiastic whack into hard wood. their price is not bad as i have paid more for ordinary brand name chisels that scream "dont hit me or apply pressure" i will be buying the range

I have known Narex' reputation for quality for some time; and needed a 16mm bedan for my turning.I could no longer source one, so realising their mortice chisel differs only in handle design and angle of grind I opted for this .Extremely pleased. Excellent piece of steel, which holds its edge, and the handle design proves an advantage for me. I have not even altered the angle of grind. Also saved 50% on the former listed price of a British bedan!

I needed it for a specific purpose. I did not possess any mm width chisels mine were all english sized widths.Many my grandfathers and great grandfathers. I did not expect to receive a tool of the quality received for the price paid.The tool feels good with well shaped wooden handle and comfortable to use unlike many of the main volume plastic handle chisels available today. I will certainly invest in more from the same manufacturer and supplier.

I was not familiar with Narex but this mortice chisel is beautifully made and was razor sharp on arrival. It required no honing and was immediately useable. A brilliant tool.

I am very satisfied. This is a steel mortice chisel with wood handle, which is proving solid and practical.For my usage it is doing a good job. Much better at mortising than a standard chisel!!!
