Mi Surface has a case. Does it work with the case on?

If the protective case is too thick, it may affect the use. It is recommended to remove the protective cover when in use. This product is only suitable for Surface Pro 4/5/6

Would this work with an early 2012 MacBook Pro (unibody) as the thunderbolt 2 and usb is right next to each other?

I am sorry, I do not know anything about a MACBOOK, but the plug in is c type, I don't think they made that in 2012, however, I could be very wrong.

I have a surface pro with the mini dp and standard usb on the side. will this work for me?

Yes, it will work with this requirement, as long as your Surface Pro version matches the one the manufacturer lists. I have a Surface Pro 4 with the Mini DP and USB next to each other, and it fits fine.

Does this work with Surface Pro 3?

It don't work with Surface Pro 3.

Do not buy the more expensive options!

I didn't want to spend a lot of money on purchasing anything for my Surface Pro 4 because they aren't going to be releasing any more updates for it and it will probably obsolete in a year or two, but I did want to extend the monitor and attach an exterior web cam and mouse for the time being. I'm going to use my Surface Pro until it dies. Anyway, this cheap device works!!! As soon as I got it in the mail, I hooked it up immediately. I am typing this review on my Surface Pro write now looking at the extended screen. I am so happy I didn't waste $100 or more dollars. This device has so many additional ports! I am super happy with my purchase. I highly recommend!

Does exactly what it says it’ll do

I got this for my 5 year old Surface Pro to connect it to a larger monitor and it works and fits great!It takes a second to figure out how to do the display set up by that’s the system not this connector piece. I’m so glad I got it! And you can’t beat the price.

Replacement

This product was working well and then the hdmi Port stopped working. Can this be replaced? That is the only part that's giving issues.

Stoped working after very little use

Functionality:The prudct worked for the first two months or so and then just stopped detecting my monitor, I tried switching cables\monitors but unfortunately it did not work.

HDMI doesn't work. DONT ORDER

Edit:vendor sent a replacement and the new unit works perfectly.Although it worked seamlessly for a month, I would not recommend this product as the HDMI port no longer works. I purchased this item to use my second monitor for a presentation.I contacted Amazon as it was right outside of the 30 day return policy but they stated the seller does not allow for any communication to request advice on how to fix the known issue. There was no solution to fix it and I'm now stuck with a defective product with no tech support/ no means of contacting the seller. A waste of money, I was looking to work with the seller for guidance. Sad business.

Working like a charm on a Surface 6
