Familiar story, hood shocks don't keep the hood up. Don't sacrifice your safety for a few bucks with sticking a piece of wood in the hood to keep it up. Buy these and put them on in 10 minutes.

Struts seem to work. A real pain to install one of the sides though -- the fastener on the main strut side seemed damaged and wouldn't allow it to snap on. The other strut went on quickly. Also, the instructions are useless. I'm hoping the difficult side stays on since I really had to force it on. The price was great though if they last.

Installed on Mountaineer hood. At first, didn't think they were strong enough, but raised and lowered hood 10 times and they go much stiffer. Tried them at 15degF this morning and they are working great!!! Very impressed for the price. Installation took just a few minutes.

this item was a direct replacement for my 2007 mercury. it literally took me one minute to install each lifter. this lifter is awesome. even lifts my hood up when it gets past the halfway point. i love it
