Just what I was looking for!
Had been using Suave Matte Hair Gel for years, but it look like it is not being made any more. A reviewer mentioned that AXE Messy Look Hair Gel Matte was the same formula as the Sauve Matte. That "seems" to be the case so I use it when I want a "light" hold. But If I want something a little more firm use Mr. Dapper. My hair is bit woolly and keeping it in line can be tricky. Mr. Dapper Matte Gel keeps the hold without being crunchy or shiny. Has a pleasant smell and is thick..a little goes a long way.I wrote to the company to ask if Mr. Dapper formula contained phthalate. The compay wrote back and said the formual is phthalte free. Sold!

Absolutely uses pthalates
Despite what the seller is claiming about this product being free from phthalates, the minute I opened it, the unmistakable odor ultra-sweet fragrance wafted over me. I looked at the ingredients, where "Fragrance" (i.e. phthalates) was clearly advertised. So the marketing verbiage on this product needs to be updated and that line removed; I'm guessing it was copied from some other similar product.

The Only Gel I’ll Use
I picked this product up on a whim because I was fed up with trying different gels and pomades that didn’t work the way I had hoped. They were either too pasty or had such strong hold that your hair was too gelled back. When I tried Mr. Dapper, it was light enough to mold your hair with or without a comb. In combination with hairspray, my hair holds the entire day and looks like it was naturally combed over in the direction I put it, instead of looking wet and gelled down. I am very happy I came across Mr. Dapper.

Great product at an affordable price point
I found this hair product in Hawaii when on vacation because I forgot mine back on the mainland. Long story short, Hawaii is humid and my thick hair held in the product all day long. I've only seen this in CVS/Longs Drugs, but am glad that I'm able to find it on Amazon. I've been able to go on 4+ mile runs with the product in my hair and I'm convinced that this is the stuff the players in the Champions League use to keep their hair in one place after a 90 minute match. Also should mention that it doesn't flake and is really lightweight. 5/5 would recommend.

Not the best
This stuff is thick, hair doesn’t keep its place, leaves hair feeling hard and stiff and difficult to comb through.
