A Quick, Easy, and Fun Old Western Tale That I Found Entertaining. Enjoy!
I enjoy C. J. Pet it’s books. He is very good at character development as well as developing interesting old western tales. As usual, this book is poorly edited, but I overlook that because the stories a very entertaining. In this case Zack consistently takes beating from his deranged older brother, while protecting his two younger bothers. Like his older brother, Zack’s mom was a bully and when she died his older brother ruled the roost because his weak father was a drunk.Zack’s father made an agreement with a young widow and married her as a matter of convenience. She was starving and he needed a cook and housekeeper. Jack’s older brother had different plans for her as he helped his father drink himself to death. His stepmother feared Jack’s older brother’s advances and at just a 7 years older than Zack, she felt very close to him.On Zack’s 18th birthday he move out and took a job on the ranch of a kind elderly couples sheep ranch. After her minister’s father disowned their 17 year old unwed, yet pregnant daughter, the sheep ranchers welcomed their niece into their home and Zack save he life on more than one occasion.Zack had grown to well over 6 foot and filled out while living with the ranchers and had fallen in love with the tiny niece; however, their vast differences in height and perceptions thereof got in the way of developing their relationship.Zack’s reputation grows strong through his hard work, bravery and acts of kindness to those in need. This is a quick and easy read that was a fun read with plenty of guns, horses, confrontation, and action that made it hard to put down. Accordingly, I recommend it to family, friends, and others who like a good old fashion western with a touch of romance.Enjoy!

Zack and others
This review actually covers all Mr. Petit's series of books. First, i like them all equally well ( i have read 11 to date ), not just a little, i like them a lot! The characters are generally developed well, the story line line follows a familiar script ( guys, gals, guns, horses ) and the bad guys lose. One does not read these type of books to be mentally challenged , socially enlightened or educated. You are however looking for pure entertainment and enjoyment, and that is what he gives you in each book. A lot is made of the typos, wrong names, and general poor editing, so what ! He is self publishing on Amazon and very hard to proof your own work that is 200+ pages. I see the intent and it does not diminish from the book to me. Zack was one of the top 3 or 4 to me since i am supposed to reviewing that book but in reality if you like one you will like them all. They are well researched and presented to you as a afternoon of "escape". Let yourself go ! .. one other item of note, at .99 cents per book, it is without a doubt the most "bang for your buck " on Amazon. Looking forward to more from Mr. Petit.

Every Second is Wasted Time without the One you Love!
Mr Petit has done it again, he has written another heartwarming, action packed Western Romance novel. This one again is a little different in that it starts on a cattle ranch, but proceeds to a sheep herding ranch then to a Law Office. Zack Granger is the second son of four boys and this is his story. He has an "evil" brother who is terrorizing the entire family, which is why Zack has to leave the family. Once he leaves the family the story really takes off with so many unexpected twists and turns your head will spin. There is great character development as usual, lots of good action and strategic thinking , plus some very nice curve balls to throw you off in your thinking of what "should" come next. It had some very tender moments, some heartbreaking moments, and some really satisfying moments. I just could not put it down. It was really great entertainment.

A beautiful love story of a young man coming of age...
One reviewer thought this story was a little hard to believe considering Zack is only eighteen years old. It does sound unbelievable for a young man of this age to accomplish all he did but, if you read some of the actual true history of the pioneers of this time period you will find that those people, both young & old were of much stronger stock than we are today. Matter of fact, I would imagine those people would consider us "woos-es" which would be right. I have read accounts of very young children left behind when they wondered away from wagon trains that survived. The character of Zack Granger was a sweet young man & it doesn't take the reader very long to be drawn into his story. I found this to be a very heart-warming tale that I would recommend to any reader that loves the old westerns.

Western Fiction
I read this but not sure why. The good guys were almost to good, except for killing all the bad guys. And the bad guys were really bad. No one was just so so. I got this as there were horses and dogs in it. I have several horses but have never heard of calling the color of a horse just -tan-. The only other mention of a horse color was black and brown. What happened to bay, sorrel, chestnut, palomino, buckskin - I could go on. And the dogs were Border Collies. I have 2. No description on color or what a BC dog looks like. Then there was the way the people just left the dogs to take care of the sheep, day and night. What happened to the sheepherders the always stayed with the flock. On top of not knowing his subjects the writer made lots of mistakes in his wording and which name to use when. Don't think I try any more by this writer.

Good story
I have read 10+ books by this author, and thoroughly enjoy the stories, although he has a typical theme. I read another review chastising his depiction of women in his books, and although they do have a definite similar pattern, I understand it probably describes the lifestyle of women back in that era and somewhat today. My only concerns is the author is quite inaccurate regarding sinners. He obviously isn't well versed in scripture to say some of the women weren't sinners (in this book and others) and that fornication wasn't a sin. Everyone on this earth is a sinner and needs redemption. Unless she was victim of rape - she was a willing participant in sex outside of marriage, which is fornication - a sin - sexual immoral. (E.g. Gal 5:19)

Another excellent tale of the now more human type of Western hero. This author seems to give possibly a more honest version of what life was like in the Wild West. His works exhibit sterling values of respect for the women and children and to my mind that is not a bad thing. The action moves along rapidly and it is an enjoyable read. I like this author as he seems to give weight to ideals that I support and hope his works might incline others to the same ideals.
