This music collection of Greatest Hits Volume I & Volume II by Billy Joel features a multiple number of fascinating vintage pop and classic rock songs that span multiple stages of his music career: Scenes from An Italian Restaurant, Just The Way You Are,Movin Out (Anthony’s song), Only The Good Die Young, She’s Always A Woman To Me, My Life, Big Shot, Uptown Girl, You May Be Right, Tell Her About It etc. I confess that hearing the songs Tell Her About It and My Life indirectly influenced me to eventually purchase this collection although You May Be Right is also an illicit music pleasure for me to listen to, however there are a multiple number of other songs on this collection that are also classic and exquisite songs. It is best if you are previously familiar with at least some of Billy Joel’s songs to more thoroughly enjoy the collection, however even if you are a novice to his music you might still enjoy this collection if you are receptive to listening to 70s and 80s style vintage pop and classic rock with some of the energy of love songs mixed in.

Maybe it's me, but a fair number of the songs I never heard of and did not fully appreciate.Still, it was Billy Joel, so I came away happy.

This was first released way back in 1985 and I had it on vinyl and this is one of those that is so good that you wonder why didn't they just expand it to a 3 cd version when compact discs started being expanded into remastered extra track/ bonus track albums that way you could have added more tracks from the debut to An Innocent Man and then songs from his albums released after 1985 which really would have only been three more studio albums. Billy Joel Greatest Hits Vol. 1 and 2 missed some hits and key tracks that should have been included along with additional hits on Vol. 3 but the compilers missed the opportunity to get it right and still didn't get all the hits. If you are not interested in the albums and only in it for a few songs then this is a great compilation and you won't be disappointed.

I know that there are quite a few other compilations of Billy Joel's that are out there but in truth, this one is the best. It's quite clear that after the wonderful "An Innocent Man", Billy just lost it and his albums started a dramatic decline in quality. Clearly his best work can all be found here and you don't really need to get Vol. 3. This Japanese mini-lp replica gatefold sleeve remastered version is also the best version of this cd that is out there. The sound has never sounded better and the track selections are excellent with the lyrics included as well for good measure. All my favourite BJ tunes are here such as "Allentown", "Honesty", "Just the Way You Are", "My Life", "Still Rock and Roll to Me".... and the list goes on. The only track that's not here that really should be is from "An Innocent Man" and is "Leave a Tender Moment Alone." If you want the truly best work of this guy, just get this album and "An Innocent Man" and you pretty much have the essential greatest works of Billy Joel.

For those who like Billy Joel, it is an excellent CD. No problems with delivery, came on time, and a excellent price.

Very easy to listen to cd. Good background music

This ia a fascinating compilation. CD version adds more tracks than the original 2 LP set which I own too. A must for everyone.
