Good design, feels great in hand. Seems to be a great all around useful knife.
Great looking design, feels good in hand. Edge extremely sharp. Is high carbon steel be sure to keep blade lubed (Ballistol would be my choice)I bought 3 different versions of this knife look forward to using them all.Tony

Buy it!
Great knife. I wear it all the time while working outside and for general EDC. . I have used it to cut temporary stakes for a tower deer stand, trim chicken thighs, cut beef sausage and cheese, and dig a splinter out of my palm. The plastic handle scales aren't perfectly fitted to the knife, but for the price I can live with that.It has a fantastic edge out of the box, and will return the edge with a few touches on a steel or a strop. Edge doesn't last forever, but a true outdoorsman doesn't want a super hard steel for a knife. You want to be able to easily hone in the field. The tradeoff there is that your edge wont last as long. The blade was slightly curved out of the box, easily fixed it by placing it between the forks on a hammer and flexing it back to straight. The sheath was pulling apart a little on the stitching out of the box, another easy fix with a 1 dollar sewing kit.Bottom line it was a great value knife that I intend to keep and use for years to come.

Love it!
I bought this knife because it’s cheap enough to abuse and not lose sleep over it. It’s a good knife and can take the abuse. American made, good stuff!

Excellent Purpose Built Game And Meat Prep Knife
I am very pleased with the excellent design features of the Old Timer Sharpfinger Large to prepare meat. All tools have a specific purpose. Knives are no different. The Sharpfinger will perform general knife duties and cut most anything. But it is designed to excel at meat processing. The long upswept cutting edge, hollow grind, sharp point, finger choil, and thumb ramp make the blade well suited for skinning, precise cuts, cutting around bone and joints, and separating cuts of meat. The knife was designed in the 1970s by Schrade as a revolutionary hunting/skinning design. The Sharpfinger became the standard belt knife for a generation of hunters. I do not have experience field dressing large game. I do grill and smoke a lot. As a "suburban backyard commando" I have found the same design features that make the Sharpfinger the ideal choice for dressing game in the field work equally well on the patio. You can choke up on the blade and extend your index finder along the spine almost out to the tip of the blade to make long sweeping precise cuts. Removing membrane, separating ribs, trimming fat, trimming and prepping brisket, etc, etc is exactly what the Sharpfinger was designed for. I prefer the Large. I also think using a "field knife" instead of kitchen cutlery adds to the sense of adventure with outdoor cooking, grilling, and smoking.I have made a family tradition of giving the Sharpfinger. As each of our sons got married, purchased a home, and began their own grilling and smoking adventures; I gave each of them a Sharpfinger as part of their path to manhood :-)It was very unfortunate that Schrade USA shut its doors in 2004 after a hundred years of manufacturing excellent work and field knives. Schrade Old Timer is now manufactured in China. The quality of the steel, and the fit and finish, are not the same as the classic Schrade. However, the current manufacture is very good and performs just fine. The current Schrade knives are well made and fairly priced. These knives are not "cheap imitations". I give a 4 Star rather than a 5 simply because the Chinese manufactured knives are not the quality of the originals.

Excellent budget skinner
Pleasantly surprised with this Schrade. Sadly Schrade knives havent been made in America since 2004.Whom ever is the Chinese contractor Schrade has a dang good one. The fit and finish is great. The fit of the handle scales is perfect. Good thick full tang blade Came razor sharp. The spine is not super sharp but sharp enough to throw spark from a ferro rod.Ive got a old USA made regular sharpfinger. This one is close in quality but larger. Ive got it on now and loving it. Comes with a good servicible leather sheath that should last a good while. This will be my go to deer/hog / coyote skinner.Would make a good small game processing knife aswell. Good budget knife. You wont be disappointed. Highly recommend.

Excellent EDC
This is the perfect knife for bikers, fits perfect and it’s comfortable on the belt. It’s small enough but yet big enough for what you might need it for, it’s an excellent EDC for “Self Defense” or just TCB.

Razor out of the box
This is just a first impression review for now. Very nice knife, not too light or heavy, sheath is serviceable. The spine thickness is a plus, stouter than I thought it would be. But easily the most impressive detail is the edge. This knife is as sharp or sharper out of the box as any of mine that I have worked to put an edge on. My forearm hairs were literally popping off like they were electrocuted at a light touch of it. I like that it shows some concern for quality at the factory level.

Easy 5 stars
This is an amazing knife for the 22 dollar price. It's a little bigger than expected, fits well in a larger size hand, and comes very sharp. The sheath also appears to be of a high quality. Definitely recommend buying.
