Loke - Now this is a brand that is worth every penny!
I have purchased as many of the Loke Battlemats as I can from Amazon (currently only missing The Wilderness two-volume set, and the Little Books, as well as most of the the Sci-Fi and Cyber Punk lines, although all of them are basically on my Wishlist), from the Giant Books to the Big Books to the various two-Volume sets, and I have yet to not be extremely pleased with each one of my purchases. You will never make a better purchase as a DM or GM than by purchasing a Loke branded battlemat product, IMHO. The two volumes of this Towns & Taverns set work together to come up with almost any town or tavern kind of battlemap that you might need, and if there are any others that you might need, you can mark on these maps with dry or wet erase (although I suggest using dry erase because it wipes off cleaner no matter how long it sets/sits on the maps), to adjust them as you see fit. The maps are also modular, and work in various combinations with ALL of the other Loke products that I have seen so far.Like most of the Loke Battlemats, these have thick, sturdy pages that are essentially waterproof and wipe clean, as well as a spiral binding which allows you to use each page individually or as a double page spread. Each book, from Giant to Big to Little to these 2-volume sets also have handy visual indexes (with page numbers!) on the back of each book so that you can find which one you need in a jiffy. The two volume sets (Dungeons; Castles, Crypts & Catacombs; Towns & Taverns, and The Wilderness) also have hardbound covers, and a nice slipcase with a combined visual index of the maps contained within the two volumes. As a DM who homebrews A LOT of D&D5e, I have found that with as many of these Loke battlemat products as I can get, I have virtually any non-super specific battle map covered, from any environment that I could possibly imagine. All of the maps are 1" grids, with spectacular artwork throughout. Most of the books also include at least one set of generic pages (stone work, grasslands and the like) for basic battle map kind of stuff, as well as a plethora of other maps to choose from. The two volume sets give you a nice smattering of maps that follow a specific theme (such as Towns & Taverns!) and then gives you way more than you thought you could want, and you will likely find a use for each one of them! You can even use the maps themselves to come up with encounters or mini-scenarios inspired by them. Need a warehouse by the dock? Here you go. Need a tavern by the river? Gotcha. Need a fancy manor house? Look no further. After the first Loke book that I purchased, I have been obsessed with these books and sets. I cannot possibly recommend them enough if you aren't the greatest at drawing maps, or just don't want to deal with paper maps that get wrinkled and torn and water damaged like a lot of mine. I love each and every product that they have put out and I have been able to snag up to thispoint, and have also pre-ordered their upcoming RPG Toolbox, for the maps alone, if for nothing else (and there's a lot included). If I were a DM that didn't have these Loke battlemat products already, then I would be tickled pink if I received any of them as a gift for being an awesome DM, so if you have a DM that you love, then ANY of these products are a clear choice in my mind.Final note to the makers of these fine products: Loke! Please feel free to help me get The Wilderness set! I need it! OK. I want it, but I feel like I need it!

Best bang for buck terrain
These are a very cost effective way of having a lot of TTRPG terrain available in a format that is easy to flick through and find. Loke books and the official DnD terrain tiles have seen more use at my table than any other terrain simply due to ease of use

A bit pricey, but you get a LOT of BEAUTIFUL battle map pages!
I took the spiral binding out, so they could be mixed and matched however the DM wanted. Just happened to be have a large scenario coming up 2-3 sessions after buying this set, so it worked perfectly to create an elaborate scene. LOVE the set and high quality!
