Q: what is the height of the horses?

Hello N. L. Chiappetta,The entire book end stands 9 inches tall. The horses would be roughly 8 inches. I hope this is helpful!

Q: What are these bookends made of? I can't find that anywhere.

I don't know what they are made of -- nothing says. I DO KNOW that they are very attractive, weighty enough to be effective bookends and were very happily received by the young "horse enthusiast" who got them for Christmas.

Q: How to shine these bookends? ( I have bought a set and one of them is not shiny like other one and is matte so need to shine it )

I have the same horse bookends and they are both shiny. I would send the set back and get a replacement. Other than that you could take it to a paint store and see what they suggest.

This is a set. I bought them for my daughter and she loves them. They are really nice and heavy so they hold the books well.
