I really wasn't sure how this was going to be. I love microwave popcorn. The ease of it, the flavor, all of it. So when this came, I had to go and get regular popcorn! I used Orville Redenbacher popcorn that just comes in the plastic bottle, and no oil or anything. I filled the middle section like it says in the directions and threw it in the microwave. It is a bit of a trick to get the lid on, but it only took a few seconds to figure it out. Filling the center section all the way caused the lid to pop up because it made so much popcorn! So the next time I put slightly fewer kernels in. There weren't very many unpopped kernels at the bottom. It's really good! I ate the first bowl absolutely dead plain. The next one I did add a little butter (I use a stainless bowl to which I add a little butter and set on the stove to melt. Then I pour the popped corn in and toss.). I bought a purple popcorn to try next. The popcorn comes out really crispy (after the lid comes off and it's exposed for a few seconds), and I can safely say that I won't be buying much, if any microwave popcorn anymore! Then I just popped (HA!) the whole thing in the dishwasher. It would be very easy to wash out. Then it collapses and it easy to store. I am very very pleased with this purchase, and will be buying more (with that Orville Redenbacher popcorn!) as gifts!

This is my second purchase - I have an older one in black that suffered through my learning curve (and older microwave) when I was figuring out how long to microwave, and overdid it. (I scorched the original, but it was perfectly useable, by the way. I just liked the pretty red!) PERFECT popcorn every time. Be aware that it will be hot when you remove it - you may want a dishtowel. I fill the bottom round with popcorn kernels - one layer only- and microwave for 3 minutes on normal level. Empty the popcorn in a bowl and drizzle - or spray - either avocado oil or good olive oil. Sprinkle with salt, nutritional yeast, spices, whatever your heart desires. Do not put the oil in with the popcorn when popping - I tried that, but it is not the best choice, and clean up is a pain. I can wipe it out with a paper towel or rinse with water, and it's good to go for another round.

I bought this to generate fewer waste items from single use containers, which is how most microwaveable popcorn bags are sold. One of my biggest concerns was that the popcorn texture would be different. I was right: it’s different and BETTER! The lid keeps the kernels in the bowl while they pop and prevent any splatter from oil or butter. I like that I can season the popcorn to my liking. And portions can be adjusted too based on how many people are sharing. Popcorn has been our go to snack since we got this bowl. One thing to note is that there’s a slight learning curve around how long to pop kernels without burning them. I’m sure you could find a video to learn if needed. My complaints are that to make this bowl collapsible, the silicone is a bit soft, so do be careful when you pick it up or you get popcorn everywhere. When you’re done popping, it can be difficult to pick up the bowl from the microwave because it’s very hot on its sides and the top is venting steam from the popcorn. Overall, great purchase! It’s definitely an upgrade from microwaveable popcorn in bags.

I love this gadget! It is a must have for a popcorn lover who doesn’t want all the chemicals of traditional microwave popcorn. Just put the popcorn in the bowl with a little oil, and you have delicious microwave popcorn with no fuss. My kids use it all the time, and it is so easy to clean (just pop it in the dishwasher.)

I was skeptical - what could this silicon bowl do better that a regular pot on the stove? Turns out, it’s way better. The microwave cooks more evenly, and in this popper I’ve never had single a burnt kernel, but nor are there a ton of left over unpopped kernels! It’s so easy to use - just put in a couple tablespoons of oil (I use avocado oil, and add in a bit of salted butter). Put in the kernels, turn on the microwave, and voila, perfect popcorn every time! We’ve ended up using this a lot. It folds up small so it doesn’t take up much space, and can be washed in the dishwasher. Add a bag of organic kernels and you’ve got a great gift set.

This thing is great. I put 2 Tbsp of unpopped popcorn and pop it in the microwave without putting anything else in it. Works as if it was a bag of microwave popcorn. It's extremely easy to set up and use. Full disclosure, the popcorn is a little bland without any seasoning on it. If you want to put seasoning on it, I'd recommend using a spray bottle of water to get it a little damp, then applying seasoning after spraying water on it. This will keep the health of the popcorn (since you don't need butter or anything), while still giving it some flavor. Very easy to clean overall, just run it under water after popping. Overall a great product, would recommend.

I first bought the smaller "personal" size for afternoon snack break. Makes a perfect 4 cup portion for one person. Easy to clean - I use warm soapy water even though it is dishwasher safe. Others have mentioned that the bowl is hot to handle straight out of the microwave, so I discovered that the bowl fits into the center of the lid making it easier to handle. The popcorn comes out perfectly cooked, with a minimal amount of unpopped kernels. Cooked without needing oil, this can be as healthy as air popped. I liked this product so much that I ordered another one in the larger "original" size for times when I want to make a larger batch. For sharing.

We like this bowl but it’s not the best. Firstly, it gets very hot and you need oven mitts or a towel to get it out of the microwave. You can’t go straight to eating unless you put a towel on your lap. Also, it’s too small to make popcorn for two people, so we end up dumping it on another bowl so we can make more. Plus, if you follow the directions with the appropriate amount of kernels, it pops the bowl so full that you can’t drizzle it with butter or oil and put the lid back on to shake it around, it just sits there bec it’s to full. We wanted a bowl with a lid specifically so we didn’t have to transfer to another bowl and stir the toppings around, which inevitably ends up with popcorn spilling out all over the counter. And then there’s two dirty bowls. Overall, it’s a convenient way to make popcorn and it will leave just about a dozen kernels unpopped at the bottom of the bowl. But I might try a different brand next time. I like that it goes in the dishwasher and collapses for storage.

I used to pride myself on a perfect bowl of popcorn. But then an induction cooktop ruined my record and I couldn’t get it right. This simple gadget cooks remarkably perfect popcorn every time. I add a little bit of butter and it comes out crunchy with a lovely butter flavour. About 4.5 mins works in my microwave.

We use this so often in my house. It's such a simple idea and it makes the easiest popcorn. Also works really well for steaming veggies in the microwave if you're in a pinch!
