Great cake pan and not just for princess cakes
I bought this cake pan because my three-year-old daughter wanted a princess cake for her birthday. I'm not much of a baker so this pan was a little intimidating. However, after reading the reviews, I decided to give it a try. It was wonderful and very easy. Far easier than I was expecting it to be. My daughter is blonde so I ended up buying an additional doll topper but other than that, everything from the kit was perfect. Before making the party cake, I tested it out. I followed the directions and everything worked well. But, the cake was a bit small so the next time, I added a little bit more batter than the directions say and it was perfect. Another reviewer suggested using two different types of cake batter to get a nice marbled effect. I tried that and it was amazing. I got so many compliments on the cake and had several people who asked if I had a professional make it for me. Given that I'm not much of a baker, that was a huge compliment. I was a bit intimidated by frosting it but I found a website where a lady suggested frosting it with a buttercream (I made a basic one), letting it sit until it just starts to harden and then take a paper towel that has an impressed pattern on it. Gently lay the paper towel on top of the frosting and rub it until the pattern appears on the frosting. Then, put a little bit of decorative frosting around the edges of the skirt. It worked and it made the most beautiful skirt that looked like lace. It was amazing. The only negative I have about this kit is that the doll toppers are pretty much good for one use. The hair is very flimsy and doesn't stay in the head very well. Anything you do that touches the hair causes it to fall out. I put it up in a basic pony tail and by the end of the party, most of the hair was gone. The same thing happened to the other topper (the brunette one that came with the kit) when I washed it after using it for my test cake. I did my best to keep the water out of the hair but given that you have to "dress" the topper with frosting, the hair has to be moved in order to wash it and quite a bit of it fell out. Pretty disappointing but the toppers are easy to find and easy to replace. The other benefit of this cake pan is that it can be used for other things. It's obviously designed for a a princess cake but I have also made an Easter egg and a football cake using it. I simply filled the center with frosting instead of putting the doll topper in it. One of my sons wants a volcano cake and this shape will be perfect for it. I thought I would be spending a lot of money on a cake pan that I would only use one time but given the shape, it can be used to make many different things so I am definitely getting a return on my investment. I highly and emphatically recommend this cake pan and kit. It is very easy to use. Easy enough that a non-baker can make really exceptional cakes with no problems.

Well worth the price
I wasn't sure what to expect from this product, but I found it very easy to use - and, more importantly, to clean. The instructions are very clear, and one of the best parts is that the instruction booklet includes very specific directions on using decorator tips for various effects, including everything necessary to recreate the multiple example photos on the box. I'm not an experienced decorator by any stretch of the imagination, and I was more than satisfied with my results (as was the birthday girl). The cake did take significantly longer to bake than the time given in the directions on the cake mix (and even a bit longer than the time suggested in the directions that came with the mold) but it baked very evenly and stayed moist but firm from the edges right into the center. I used 2 whole cake mixes instead of measuring out the suggested 6 cups of batter and although the cake didn't overflow the pan, it did spill over into the tube in the center of the pan. But it still cleaned out very easily with hot water and a pipe cleaner. Next time I think I'd throw a bit of the batter into some cupcake tins to avoid overflow. I look forward to using the pan again, possibly getting more creative than simply dolls, making a volcano or a ski mountain for my son once my daughter has outgrown the princess/doll stage. I have no doubt that with a bit of care the pan will last through many birthdays.

Worked great!
Update: I’ve used this same pan to make a mermaid cake (see new pic). I made an extra 8in cake layer for the bottom to support the length of the doll. (The pan makes one full cake recipe, so I needed a recipe and a half). The doll cake pan baked for 60 minutes. This was my first time trying a doll cake. My daughter requested an Elsa themed cake for her birthday, so I thought I would give it a shot. I’m a novice baker so, instead of carving a cake to make a skirt, I decided to used this mold pan. The shape of the pan was great, but the first time I tried it, I had issues with the cake sticking to the bottom after baking. The directions say to use a Wilton cooking spray, but I didn’t have any. Just butter and flour didn’t work for my cake recipe. I decided to retry baking the cake after carefully placing some butter and parchment paper on the bottom. It was tricky because I was working with a cone shape, but in the end, it worked perfectly. The cake came out cleanly. The doll that comes with the cake didn’t look anything like Elsa (obviously), so I purchased a full sized doll to use. I had to bake an additional cake layer (9in round) to accommodate for the doll’s legs because the skirt would have otherwise been too short. I didn’t use a box mix. I used Hershey’s Black Magic cake recipe. Overall, I was pleased and would recommend this cake pan. Note for anyone trying to create an Elsa: I used a combo of Americolor sky blue and royal blue to obtain my icing colors.

Would highly recommend it !!
I highly recommend this pan . It was my first time trying out a theme doll cake. And I was so glad that it all worked well. I used 2cake mix, 2 pack instant pudding mix, 8 eggs, 8 cup water and 2/3 cup vegetable oil. This recipe can be found if you do a search for Wilton doll cake tutorial in you tube. The cake came out all clean and I used the left over batter to bake a 8 inch cake as suggested by other reviewers. I used homemade buttercream frosting for the piping . Yes it’s not clean but it was my first time piping !! I also used the doll that came with the pan. It’s not that bad if you wish to use it only as a cake. The cake held well after all frosting and my daughter even played with it. Not only the looks, the cake tasted awesome. It was soft and spongy and we finished the whole cake . I did not throw anything. My advice - do a little research if it’s ur first time. Follow the Wilton doll cake tutorial . I would highly recommend it.

This pan is great for making doll cakes!!
I should start by saying I am a total novice on making and decorating cakes. I had my heart set on a Elsa doll cake for my daughter’s fourth birthday and when I went to order from our favorite bakery, I found out they were closed that weekend. I decided to try and make it and pretty much all my friends thought it was an insane idea. Well I nailed it due to this cake pan. I used this cake pan, with a ten inch round cake pan for the base (a nine inch would work better, I had to trim the base) to raise it up as if you use Elsa or a Barbie type doll it isn’t quite tall enough. The key to success was this doll dress mold and using the Wilton brand Cake Release pan coating spray (similar to Pam) to grease the mold. It came out with no a crack or crumb left behind. I then made a buttercream frosting and tinted it blue. I first put the round base down, added frosting on top and then put the doll dress on the base. I then carefully opened the top a bit and scooped the cake out using a long spoon, and inserted Elsa with cling wrap around her lower body. I used a star tip piping bag and just piped around the skirt from the bottom up. Turned out so cute. It is easier if you purchase the Elsa with the clothes molded to her upper body and just remove the skirt so you don’t have to create her upper clothing with frosting.

Great kit and easy to use
This cake was a total hit. Baking I used two cake mixes and tried to do a marble style but not sure I would recommend that. Took 70 minutes to make. Top was a little browned but was able to cut off. Would recommend baking on the bottom rack of the oven if the heating elements are on top. People reported the cake was good but dense, more like a brownie and very rich but amazing. The birthday girl loved it no doubt. I used pillsbury hot pink frosting. 3 cans in total, used one as a crumb coat and the rest to fashion roses. I used a Cricut to fashion her dress top and glued right to her body. Added other accessories from barbies we had around the house. Overall worth the surprise and praise of the bday girl and my family.

Quality.
Just used it, making my Granddaughter a little mermaid cake, the pan worked well, used 1 cake mix for this tin and another to make a 8 inch round to add height needed for the doll I’m using. This pan comes with a doll torso and head, so is not large enough to accommodate a whole doll, that’s okay, this way I get a 3 layer cake. Took 50 minutes to bake in my oven. Will use again and could bake 2 cakes and join to make a football with a bit of tweaking…

completamente soddisfatta
Ottimo prodotto. Risultato ottimo.

Good tin - make sure you bake low heat and long time
My daughter requested a Cinderella birthday cake this year so I bought a 12-inch Disney doll which had a removable skirt and this tin so I could create a cake skirt. I used the recipe that Wilton suggest on their website for this tin (pretty standard eight egg mix) but I had to cook it for a loooong time (two hours) on a low heat (160C) to get it cooked in the middle, but it produced a nice even bake. It was, however, not tall enough to accommodate the legs of the doll on its own so I had to then bake two eight inch rounds to stand the skirt shape on (worth knowing if you intend to use a doll). The cake removed from this pan easily with just a greasing of butter prior to baking - I didn’t need to line it with paper. This tins shape would also make a really good volcano!

Wunderbar!
Einfach toll. :))
