Chef'sChoice 797 Food Grinder Attachment, One Size, Stainless Steel

The entire grinder - housing, screw, blade, cutting plate and hopper, are stainless steel. Thing is heavy and solid. The tolerances are good too - almost all the meat was pushed through the cutting plate at the end of the grind. The plates are size 5, my old hand grinder was size 13, and I was worried that The smaller size would mean longer times for grinding my usual 8 to 10 lb batch of sausage. After a short learning curve as to how to get chunks of meat into the hopper consistently without having to push too hard on the pusher dowel, it was a nice efficient process to make sausage without a second person helping. The pusher dowel IS kinda chincy, but works fine. As I think another reviewer mentioned, the collar that inserts into the kitchenaid mixer (in my case) was a little oversized and as a result the housing would not go into the mixer far enough for the set screw of the mixer to catch the notch on the housing collar. I did have to grind down some material to improve the fit, and because it is solid stainless steel, a file would have taken forever, but a cheap grinding wheel i keep in the garage worked well enough. Worth a little extra work for the quality materials - no aluminum, plated magnesium or plated carbon steel or any other junk. Did not even bother with included plastic sausage funnels, just bought some stainless ones here on the Amazon, fit and worked well. Comes with fine, medium and coarse plates, all stainless steel.

This model 797 is awesome, and it IS all stainless. Even better, the blades are actually forged, thick, sharpened blades - NOT those stamped sheet metal "blades" most units come with. The unit fits very well on our lift KitchenAid mixer and processes meat with ease. HIGHLY RECOMMENDThe not-so-great:The sausage attachments are plastic and kinda cheap feeling - easy and cheap to replace though. ~$11The feeder plunger is hollow plastic, don't push too hard - maybe get a solid one. ~$8The tray is meh at best - but it's a tray, no biggie.Overall, even with the "bad" this is by far the best one on Amazon. After trying a few different ones (5), the build quality of this unit is outstanding, and even the body is stainless.

It grinds meat just fine. It is all stainless and very good quality. The only thing is it leaves a little meat in the grinder, so you need to clean it out after use. I would assume every meat grinder does leave a little inside to clean. It is the best I ever purchased, better than the plastic one from kitchenaid which cracked on me.

So I need to say I bought this grinder knowing I would be pushing and exceeding its limits. It specifically says it will not grind bones but that is what I need to do. I make my own dog food from chicken which I grind bones and all. I have ground thousands of pounds of chicken helping a friend with her dog food business using a Cabellas one horsepower grinder but wanted to do my own at home. Another reviewer claimed this grinder "eats chicken bones for breakfast". Well, not really. On my wife's1/2 hp. KitchenAid mixer, I still needed to cut the drumstick bones into small pieces and split them before this grinder could do the job. I think I need to buy whole chickens and mostly debone them, only grinding the softer and smaller bones. In case you are wondering, the ground bone acts as roughage and so keeps our dog (and many others) healthy. I will edit this review in a month or so and let you know how it works using my new strategy. For now, I was using up some drum sticks I already had on hand...The other thing I need to mention, as have others, is that the attachment does not go in to the mixer so that it butts tightly against the mixer body. However, the notch which engages the attachment securing knob is in the right place, and as long as the user makes sure the screw is engaged properly in the notch, it is very secure.Lastly, I am pleased that the internal surfaces of the grinder body and auger are nicely polished. Clean up was easy. I hand washed even though it says dishwasher safe because I want to make sure everything stays smooth.By the way, I will be using this to make sausage patties and other ground meat items as well, now that I have it.The box it came in does not have separate compartments for the pieces, so it will up to you to keep them from banging against one another. It would be nice if Chefs Choice upgraded their packaging...

Terrible quality, it is cast aluminum, it is not dishwasher safe. Upper surface is galvanized and inner one is pure aluminum. If you wash it in machine you will eat meat with aluminum oxide and get. Archimedes screw, blade and chopper plates are loose. Doesn't completely fit to the mixer.

Before I purchased this item, I had purchased another popular brand but returned it because it had scratches and the auger was not polished stainless. Well this Chef’s Choice IS THE REAL DEAL as you can see in the photo. Polished stainless auger and beautiful craftsmanship. Even part of inner feeding tube is polished. Very happy with purchase at $79; not sure if that is a sale price or not. Even at the full $130s, I’d buy it now that I have seen the whole thing.I have used it to grind chicken thighs with excellent results. Look no further if you want a stainless steel grinder!

I bought the set on Oct, 2022. Use it mostly for grinding meat, which works very well. However, last week I want to use the 3 big hole plate to make some special sausage. And I found the plate is a bit bigger along one side so it cannot get completely inserted inside the grinder's opening. I contacted customer service, and was told the model is discontinued, so there is no replacement parts available. I'm shocked as they're stilling selling this on Amazon. I do not know how they can honor their warranty if there is no replacement parts. Just be aware!

Food grinder attachment is good, great to attach to your kitchen aid. Grinds meet and grains like butter, the quantity is good heavy well done. Different attachments to make different things. Great job chefs choice.

I am beyond impressed with this quality meat grinder. All I had before was the KitchenAid plastic meat grinder which is a total waste of time and money compared to this one. I used to get sprayed with meat juice all the time while grinding with the old one, but not this one. The grind is beautiful and the tray is also more accommodating and everything slides smoothly on it. Don't waste your money on plastic; stainless steel is where it's at! Will last and last.

Good general purpose grinder attachment for a KitchenAid mixer. Very good value.

This is a beast. Beautifully constructed, razor sharp blade, solid. This is such a massive step up from the crappy original KA plastic model. I hated that one for stuffing sausages, as the meat would squish up the sides of the plunger, and you had to push it all down again, pressing really hard. This one is a breeze. Almost no effort required, everything goes down the feed tube and stays down. The sharp blade makes a huge difference.This is a very high quality item.

Meat grinder 797 doesn't fit properly with Kitchenaid Professional 6 qt. It slips when in operation. I had to sand down the SS shaft to make it go all the way in. Now it fits and works well. The plastic pusher is not strong enough and it bends. I replaced it with a wooden cilinder.

I bought my self a kitchen aid stand mixer so rightful I went and bought the Kitchen aid meat grinder sausage maker parts, I then red online reviews about how it is hit or miss quaility and may brake, so I went on and saw this chef choice attachment sent and it’s been a god sent, perfect quality made 12 dozens susages with it already easy clean up dishwasher safe highly recommend
