Product is very small and not worth for money. But key is excellent.

I wanted a really good, harder to pick lock than the ones you can get at the store. I had a decent lock on my garage door but someone's picked it and left it open 3 times already. I needed something more challenging so nobody comes into my house while we're not home. I did lots of research and came across this one. Well, the price did seem high at first, but once I had it in my hands I realized that it's the quality and durability you're paying for. This lock is heavy, has not rusted in the rain and and so far nobody has gotten it open without the key. Now I don't live in the safest town, and there's a vacant run down house across from me that attracts squatters. I need a good lock. One that will challenge a picker enough to either run out of time trying or give up. This is that lock. I know it's secure every time I use it because it will not lock without the key. I'd recommend if you have something you want to stay secure. I trust this lock on the outside of my garage door and I'm considering buying extras for the gates too.

The ABUS 75IB/50 is a great lock for people looking for corrosion resistance, high security, and a high-quality lock. There are other alternatives that you can get your big box stores, but most are not as good as this lock that is designed in Germany. Master Lock are most common locks that currently you can get in North America, but in general their consumer-grade locks are of poor quality in terms of security. ABUS locks are quite expensive and difficult to find in Canada, but, I believe the better tolerances and added security pins are worth the extra cost in securing your valuables. The lock features in 8 millimeter shackle that is made out of hardened steel with a stainless steel coating. Because of this, it should enhance its resistance to cutting, especially when compared to a 5-6mm shackle. In addition, it uses ball bearings to secure both sides of the shackle. The stainless steel ball bearings prevent the lock from being shimmed and prevents the lock from being pried open (brute-forced). The ABUS IB series of locks are unlike most padlocks in which they use a non-traditional keyway and key. The use of a dimple cylinder and combined with mushroom pins, increases the difficulty of picking or covertly opening the lock. While it is not impossible to pick the lock, at the very least it adds additional time and effort in doing so. In comparison, a 4 or 5 pin Master Lock can be raked in seconds or picked open in under 2 mins. However, the use of a dimple key, makes duplication difficult, first you have to find a dealer or locksmith which can duplicate dimple keys. The 50mm version as sold on Amazon, will fit the standard hasps (angled) that are on the majority of lockers, these are typically found in schools, gyms, or at work. I have found that the 8mm diameter shackle with a 50mm inside shackle width is the maximum for these hasps, any bigger and the lock will not be able to either the hasp recessed portion of the locker handle.

I liked the quality and finish. Right now it is securing a storage box that is exposed to the elements. Might make a wannabe-thief think twice...

Excellent, very high-quality padlock that’s completely rust-proof. The build quality is much higher than similarly-priced Yale padlocks. Ideal for an outdoors padlock that won't rust in British weather or for use on boats. PROS - This specific model is properly "marine grade", as opposed to merely "weatherproof". It's built with 100% rustproof components like stainless steel, including internally. - Excellent build quality. - Excellent locking mechanism. (The core looks like an Abus EC 750/850, which would make lock picking hard and it resists bumping.) - The 8mm shackle is conveniently sized for the vast majority of padbars, hasps and staples. - It has a thicker shackle than equivalent marine padlocks from Sterling or Viro. CONS - A closed shackle padlock, such as the Abus 55292 marine padlock, would be better if you need high security. For the size of it, the lock is a little over priced, although it has a good feel. The lock that was sent to me, the shackle didnot self close & key had to be kept in to lock the shakle, which is contarary to the description on Abus website. I'm assuming this could be just a one-off case. A big thanks to Amazon for delivering it so promptly, and addressing my concern & reimbursing me, but just as a feedback for the supplier, please check the product (lock) before dispatching. NO HARD FEELINGS PLEASE. Other than that, this is a relatively small size lock, good for areas where high security isnt essential. The finishing, appearance & quality looks good overall. I personally am never in favor of spoiling anyone's rating, and have no issue in giving it a five star.
