My first batch of DVD+RW blanks would only format for recording about 50% of the time on my Toshiba recorder. They would tend to boot up on my old Magnavox. The second batch had a better success rate. My suspicion is that they sat too long in a hot container on the west coast. Once I process them with my older recorder, I can use them. It's frustrating, but it also is getting harder and harder to find DVD+RW blanks as the industry fights people who collect the programs as I tend to do. Half plus a little frustration beats no joy at all.

I record a lot of TV shows using my DVD player/recorder, so that I can watch them later. These disks definitely do the job and I can re-record over them for the next show I record.
