Works great on Tesla Model 3
The media could not be loaded. I was looking for a 12V air compressor for my 2020 Tesla Model 3 after experiencing a flat and having to wait 2 hours for roadside assistance to show up (Tesla's, like many new cars today, do not have a spare tire). I wanted something that wasn’t going to fail when I need it. Viair was on top of my short list because of its reputation for making quality products and the number of positive reviews. I was, however, somewhat concerned about reviews saying that the compressor will blow fuses. The Tesla Model 3 has a 12V accessory port rated at 12A continuous and 16A maximum so the Viair 84P should theoretically work since it is spec’d as requiring 15A maximum at 40 psi. The recommended tire psi for the Model 3 with stock 235/45R18 tires is 42psi so the max amp draw should be 15A. I was hopeful. The 84P is well built, doesn’t look or feel cheap and works as expected without blowing the electronic fuse on the Tesla.Pros:1. Quick to fill. It took 18 seconds to pump a tire up from 38 psi to 42 psi.2. The press on chuck works. It is somewhat hard to press the lever but it never felt like it was going to break off. Once locked down it is very secure.3. The unit doesn’t dance around the floor when running.4. The needle on gauge doesn’t bounce around when the compressor is on like some reviews state. The pressure gauge is relatively accurate – showing about 2 psi over actual. Not a big deal.5. Not too noisy for a portable air compressor. It’s not ultra quiet, but also not deafening like some 12V compressors.Cons:1. The included bag fits the air compressor perfectly but it is a little frustrating to coil the electrical cable and air hose nicely into the bag.Overall, the Viair 84P works for the Tesla Model 3 and is great value for a quality unit at half the price of the Tesla 12V air compressor, and is not much more than budget 12V air compressors. I don’t know if it will blow the fuse in other cars with 15A fuses on their accessory port/cigarette lighter. However, since most passenger car tires require about 30psi and the 84P is rated as requiring a maximum of 14A at 30psi, it likely will be okay.

Works really good, but...
It's amazing, super powerful, filled up a totally flat tire within 30 seconds, however, if I could go back I'd get the one that connects directly to the battery as this once blew my fuse, I guess it's too powerful. With the battery connecting version I'd have total comfort know I'm for sure safe in an emergency.

Good compressor for simple tasks
The media could not be loaded. I have bought this for my seasonal tires change and so far it has done the job. I topped-up 4 tires for my Honda CRV (18” tires) to 25 psi fairly quickly and the spare tire to 60 psi without an issue even though the compressor is rated to 60 as a maximum. The device is small and seems well built except for the plastic piece holding the extra nozzle adapter which broke after 1 hour but that’s not a big deal for me.The cable is long enough and noise is fairly low for a compressor.

Well Built
Intended use: I need a small pump in the trunk of my car for those rare occasions. You just never know when a pump will save your bacon, so I've always had one in every car I've owned.Criteria: What's needed is easily described by what I never want to own again... A noisy plastic baby-rattle that bounces all over the ground the instant you give it power.Features that matter: The power switch on the unit is a nice touch. The light on the end is an unexpected surprise. Not that I had though about a light to help my work on a tire in the dark, but it's a great indicator that it has power. I don't have to wonder if the switch is off or I've not plugged the power socket in properly. This pump is quiet. (pause) The sound it makes is warm mellow harmonic without a single rattle or repetitive tick, just a smooth pulse from a well designed mechanism. The soft rubber feet means it doesn't hop all over the ground, so no clattering on the pavement is had. It's not fast like a commercial upright floor compressor, but for its size category, it's noticeably fast. The power cord is long enough to easily reach all tires on my car. No issue there.Getting the pump nozzle over a valve takes some effort, but it results in a solid connection.Good thing the pump has a switch on the end. You have to turn it off to see an accurate pressure reading. Normally, I would over inflate and use a tire gauge to bring it down.Cons: While the carrying bag is nice, and properly made, it's not really something you want to struggle with when getting the pump out. If you think that's a bit fiddly, putting the pump back in the bag is even less of a joy. Still, I can't fault the people who designed the pump for a bag design that was clearly the job of someone else. We're I to redesign the bag, it would have a heavy zipper around one end of the bag only. The pump could then be crammed into the bag from a single opening, like a case for a camera zoom lens: drop in from the top and zip it. This way the pump cords can be wrapped around the machine (as expected) and the whole thing can be easily shoved into the pouch. Having a long flimsy zipper down the long side of the bag means the bag has no body to hold itself together. It's really a required skill to get this back together. Heck, I might just find a bag from something else for this pump.

Compresseur
