Babycakes DN-6 Mini Doughnut Maker, Yellow, 6 Donut

Happy with this purchase. Turns out very good doughnuts with little effort and no frying. The recipes included are tasty, easy and use basic ingredients. The machine heats quickly and holds its through several batches. We like to roll them in cinnamon and sugar or a little powdered sugar. I would not try filling the machine without a pipping bag/Ziploc; it would be difficult and messy. Because you fill the bottom and then close the machine to cook, the bottom side of every doughnut is browner than the top...not a big deal if you a frosting or coating them. The lifting fork that comes with the maker is important for getting them out, but it's so tiny I fear it going astray in my utensil drawer. Only real complaint is I wish the machine was larger, maybe a dozen doughnuts at a time. Most of the recipes we've made turn out 24+ doughnuts which equals at least four to five batches. Bottom line is, it makes my kids happy and is easy to use. My youngest is already planning a "doughnut party" for his birthday; he wants doughnuts instead of cake/cupcakes, so I guess that says something. Overall, a good product.

Some people complained about this doughnut maker due to doughnuts not getting done on one side but burning on the other. The doughnut maker comes with a little fork that fits around the center of each doughnut which makes it simple to flip them over half way through. Wha-la. Done evenly on both sides. Simple. Great and easy doughnuts. I do oil my doughnut maker on top and bottom with coconut oil before filling each time. Nothing sticks then so cleanup is simply done by wiping with a paper towel and then wiping with a damp cloth. I also fill the doughnuts quickly by placing the mix in a quart bag with the end snipped off so I can quickly squeeze the mix into each spot half full. If you aren't quick and leave the mix you put in first a minute before the last one, you may burn one, but you don't have to be perfect squeezing the mix in, Just get it done quickly and get it closed and turn them quickly so all cook evenly. I don't eat sugar, flour, or dairy, so I love being able to make my own doughnuts and have tasty treats that are also healthy.

I'm very disappointed in this item. Bought for granddaughters, but found out it was just too hot for them to use. And it only browned donuts on one side. Don't bother buying this item!

Bought this for my kids and they love it (have had it for a week and already used it twice, although they would use it every day if I let them). In less than 15 minutes from start (making batter) to finish you have a nice batch of home made donuts. Like other reviewers said, the top and bottom don't cook evenly, bottom side gets brown but top stays very light (it is cooked but just not browned), But we just flip them over after the timer goes off and cook them for another minute or two and that works fine. Also as other reviewers have said, the unit gets extremely hot, you have to wear oven mitts to open it which is a little awkward with the handle design. But still a great purchase for the price.

I love this doughnut maker. Its so cute! I've made doughnuts in it several times and they come out great. It only takes a few minutes for the donuts to cook and the little tool that comes with it works great by sliding into the side of the donut and then just popping it out. I haven't sprayed my doughnut maker with anything and they come out just fine. My granddaughters love to make doughnuts with me and the small size is good so you don't eat too many. I use a simple donut recipe I found on the internet and substitute buttermilk for the milk. I add nutmeg and the taste is so good it will definitely curb your craving for donuts.

Did not like this product. The lid won't go down completely so there are no holes in the donuts. The taste is not that great.

I can't eat dairy, so when the family got doughnuts, I ate a piece of toast and felt sorry for myself. Now I can make my own doughnuts, and pretty quickly, too. Babycakes is easy to use, easy to clean, and it works. Yes, all it does is make doughnuts, but it's small and easily tucked away. I'm still trying to find the right recipe to make the doughnuts a little denser, but my first efforts have been good enough to make the kids hyperventilate with glee at the prospect of my making more.

tried this several times and found it over cooks the bottom while not cooking the top...do not recommend this product

When I bought this, it was on sale for only $20 so I thought it was going to be a fantastic gift for the kiddo that didn't involve something like easy bake oven mixes. The first recipe that we made was a classic pancake recipe, and made pancake donuts. Simple, simple simple. They were cooked evenly, so I have to wonder if the other reviewer had pre heated the donut maker? I coated it with coconut oil just in case before we used it the first time and the donuts were great. And fast - like five minutes. I think we're going to get a lot of use out of this one.

Love it!!!!! I use it to make my paleo donuts, and it gives a great textures, which can be difficult with paleo or gluten free dessert!
