NoritakeKona Wood 3-3/4-Inch Coasters, Set of 4

These were rough and unfinished like a grade 8 shop class project. I doubt these a genuine Noritake product.

Beautiful product, very well made. The wood is of excellent quality, hold well on a table, and the product is very elegant.

Item came in an all wood designed style. We specifically bought this because it's solid black on the outside (to match our living room furniture) and then that wood design you see in the photo on the inside of the coaster, giving it a nice elegant look and a smoother transition between the colors and surfaces. Now it just looks like we bought the wrong coasters and doesn't match at all in our living room. Talk about false advertising.

These look nice however they do not absorb water. The water sits in a puddle on top of the wood. They hold the water ok however I was expecting them to absorb it not just let it sit on the surface. So far I have only used it with a plastic cup but I imagine because the glass is sitting in the water you have a good chance of drips when you pick up the glass. I had the stone ones and they absorbed the water much better. The other issue is these will fit the standard dinner glass however I tend to use a wider beer mug type glass (with a handle) and the glass will not fit on these because of the lip. Also, these do not have a soft bottom (felt/cork) like others I had. It is all wood so I am concerned they may scratch my tables. I decided to keep them anyway since when company is over I give them the normal drinking glasses. I still have one stone coaster I keep for my oversized glass.

Love that it has no sharp crevices so it's harder for bacteria to build up on the surface, which is hard to find. They're lighter than they look but just as sturdy as I expected. My only problem with them was that the picture makes the outer rim look black, and maybe they are and mine just weren't painted or something, but they came in one solid light brown grain all over. My room is modern, with black laminate furniture so wood decor doesn't really coordinate unless it has black accents. So unfortunately these don't match my room very well, but it's not that bad so I'm not gonna bother returning them. Other than that, it's an all-around great product.
