HK Model 1/48 US Army B-17F Memphis Bell Plastic Model 01F002

Well fitting pieces, very high quality!!

I like building model planes. This kit looked interesting when I was searching for B-17F to add to my collection. It took a few weeks to get to my home but it is worth the wait. I have only inventoried the parts so far and glanced at the instruction booklet. The parts are extremely well molded. They appear to be the neatest (not much flash) I have seen on a model I have built to date. Highly detailed. The B-17F model is huge at 1/48 scale.

I have considered HKM to be a quality manufacturer of plastic models. However, this model has the poorest-fitting parts of any model I have made. I ended up with significant gaps that were too wide for me to fill so they were not noticeable. This is my problem, but still. Also, the numbers on the instruction sheet do not always match those on the sprues. The instructions are not always clear, and the images do not always do a good job of showing the proper way to fit the item. Sometimes, the instructions don’t even show how to attach the object. Considering the price of this model, I expected much more than what was delivered. What a shame.
